This is a reminder, sent out once a month, about your postel.org
mailing list memberships. It includes your subscription info and how
to use it to change it or unsubscribe from a list.

You can visit the URLs to change your membership status or
configuration, including unsubscribing, setting digest-style delivery
or disabling delivery altogether (e.g., for a vacation), and so on.

In addition to the URL interfaces, you can also use email to make such
changes. For more info, send a message to the '-request' address of
the list (for example, mailman-request@postel.org) containing just the
word 'help' in the message body, and an email message will be sent to
you with instructions.

If you have questions, problems, comments, etc, send them to
mailman-owner@postel.org. Thanks!

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Better-Than-Nothing Security Working Group of the IETF.

Title : An interface between applications and keying systems
	Author(s) : M. Richardson
	Filename : draft-ietf-btns-c-api-02.txt
	Pages : 15
	Date : 2008-02-17

Abstract

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-btns-c-api-02.txt

To remove yourself from the I-D Announcement list, send a message to
i-d-announce-request@ietf.org with the word unsubscribe in the body of
the message.
You can also visit https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/I-D-announce
to change your subscription settings.

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the
username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After
logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-btns-c-api-02.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-btns-c-api-02.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Better-Than-Nothing Security Working Group of the IETF.

Title : IPsec Application Programming Interfaces
	Author(s) : M. Richardson, et al.
	Filename : draft-ietf-btns-c-api-03.txt
	Pages : 15
	Date : 2008-02-18

IPsec based security is usually transparent for applications and and
they have no standard APIs for gathering information about protected
network connections and for detecting the underlying security
mechanisms. This document specifies an API that increases the
visibility of IPsec to applications. The API allows applications to
allow BTNS extensions, control the channel bindigs, and control also
other security properties related to IPsec.

Folks,

The BTNS WG will not meet in PHL.

At this point the priority of the WG is to get asps and core through
IESG, and get reviews of the connection latching and API draft, thus a
session doesn't seem necessary.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Better-Than-Nothing Security Working Group of the IETF.

Title : An abstract interface between applications and IPsec
	Author(s) : M. Richardson
	Filename : draft-ietf-btns-abstract-api-01.txt
	Pages : 22
	Date : 2008-02-19

This document explains in the abstract (no language bindings are
provided) how an application may learn that IPsec has been applied to
a conversation or specify that IPsec should be used. Though this is
useful in general it is particularly useful for applications that
wish to use BTNS (Better Than Nothing Security -- a mode of IPsec
keying), either in conjunction with channel binding or otherwise.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-btns-abstract-api-01.txt

To remove yourself from the I-D Announcement list, send a message to
i-d-announce-request@ietf.org with the word unsubscribe in the body of
the message.
You can also visit https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/I-D-announce
to change your subscription settings.

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the
username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After
logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-btns-abstract-api-01.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-btns-abstract-api-01.txt".

Folks,

This is a brief update on the status of our deliverables:

- AS/PS: is in IESG resolving IETF LC comments (most notably Steve
Kent's review of ASPS)

- Core: is in IESG, resolving one SEC AD DISCUSS.

I don't expect any major difficulty with the two above.

- Connection latching: We will soon get an additional review of
conn-latch from the transport area directorate. Then we can proceed to
WGLC, and then forward it to IESG.

- APIs: I am currently trying to get APP area folks to review APIs
draft. Stay tuned.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Better-Than-Nothing Security Working Group of the IETF.

Title : IPsec Channels: Connection Latching
	Author(s) : N. Williams
	Filename : draft-ietf-btns-connection-latching-06.txt
	Pages : 24
	Date : 2008-02-25

This document specifies, abstractly, how to interface applications
and transport protocols with IPsec so as to create "channels" by
"latching" "connections" (packet flows) to certain IPsec Security
Association (SA) parameters for the lifetime of the connections.
This can be used to protect applications against accidentally
exposing live packet flows to unintended peers, whether as the result
of a reconfiguration of IPsec or as the result of using weak peer
identity to peer address associations.

Weak association of peer ID and peer addresses is at the core of
Better Than Nothing Security (BTNS), thus connection latching can add
a significant measure of protection to BTNS IPsec nodes. A model of
of connection latching is given.

to change your subscription settings.

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the
username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After
logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-btns-connection-latching-06.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-btns-connection-latching-06.txt".
