Marc and Roger,

In light of the precedent being set by the working group that requires a =
liaison statement from an SDO be provided prior to a work item being =
adopted by working group. I request that the SDO requiring the =
functionality outlined in draft-marshall-ecrit-similar-location-04 =
submit an LS indicating why it is required and why the current LVF =
capabilities offered by LoST are insufficient to address its needs, and =
that it will use this specification prior to this work being adopted by =
the WG.

Cheers
=91James

The period between "group" and "I request" should be a comma.

Subject: [Ecrit] draft-winterbottom-ecrit-priv-loc-04

All,

This draft was presented in a compressed time slot at the Toronto meeting l=
ast week. James W. has indicated an urgency to move this work forward. Th=
e chairs are asking everyone to review this from the perspective of adoptin=
g this draft as a wg item. So, please review this from the overall archite=
ctural value of providing emergency call routing within a HELD req/response=
(protocol details and word smithing can be done after it becomes a wg item=
).

Since James has indicated this work will be used by other SDOs, and coupled=
with the stated urgency, the chairs request that you review the draft and =
indicate to the list by COB Wednesday August 6, 2014 your opinion:

  1. I believe this work should move forward in ECRIT
  2. I=92m agnostic to this work and don=92t care either way
  3. I=92m opposed to this architectural change to the ECRIT model and bel=
ieve this work should not be adopted.

A indication of #2 tells the chairs that you are aware of the work and trul=
y don=92t have an opinion, it helps us in determining what percentage of th=
e wg participants have read the draft.

Thanks,

Marc & Roger

 2. I'm agnostic to this work and don't care either way
 3. I'm opposed to this architectural change to the ECRIT model and believ=
e this work should not be adopted.

A indication of #2 tells the chairs that you are aware of the work and trul=
y don't have an opinion, it helps us in determining what percentage of the =
wg participants have read the draft.

Thanks,

Marc & Roger

While updating additional-data-22 based on WGLC comments and Toronto
discussion, I realized that the text for the ServiceEnvironment
element needs changes. (This is the element that indicates if a
customer is considered business or residential, and is specifically
about the service contract, not the premises.) It's currently
required in all cases.

I propose to change the text to make it optional for wireless and
required otherwise, and also mention that a business line may be
installed in a residence, and also modify the reason for need and how
used text to clarify that it may give the PSAP a hint about the
premises or context, and also mention that it replicates an ALI field
that exists in legacy.

Internet Technologies Working Group.

The IESG contact persons are Alissa Cooper and Richard Barnes.

A URL of this Internet Draft is:
http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-ecrit-trustworthy-location/

Technical Summary

[Abstract]
For some location-based applications, such as emergency calling or
roadside assistance, the trustworthiness of location information is
   critically important.

This document describes how to convey location in a manner that is
inherently secure and reliable. It also provides guidelines for
assessing the trustworthiness of location information.

Working Group Summary

There was healthy work group participation in compiling the details
that make up the guidelines within the draft. There were no
significant controversies noted on the list, and all dialogues were
efficiently attended to with during the development stage. A successful
development progression is documented in the ECRIT wg minutes and in
  email list archives.

Document Quality

No existing implementations are known to exist. There have been
several vendors that have been involved in the development and
  review of the document.

Personnel

  Document shepherd is Roger Marshall.
  Area Director is Alissa Cooper.

All,

Thanks to all who commented on this draft, it appears we have rough consens=
us to move forward. During the discussion on the work, it=92s been pointed=
out that while this is a departure from the ECRIT architecture for emergen=
cy calling, we should support it as ETSI will use it in their emergency cal=
ling architecture. Since the ETSI emergency calling architecture is unknow=
n by ECRIT, the chairs are exploring ways to liaise with ETSI so we have a =
better understanding of their requirements and architecture.

Hence, the chairs would like to send the following as an informal liaison t=
o the chair(s) of the ETSI E2NA working group. Please respond by COB 8/25/=
14 if you believe this would be helpful as we work on this item.

"The IETF ECRIT working group has agreed to take on a work item to extend t=
he HELD protocol to support PSAP URI information in the response to a locat=
ion request. This feature is currently not supported in the HELD protocol =
as it=92s not required in the ECRIT emergency calling architecture. Theref=
ore, the ECRIT working group would like to better understand the requiremen=

Hi,

Would it be useful to include a reference to "the ECRIT emergency calling a=
rchitecture", in case that is unknown by ETSI :)

Regards,

Subject: [Ecrit] Discussion on draft-winterbottom-ecrit-priv-loc-04

All,

Thanks to all who commented on this draft, it appears we have rough consens=
us to move forward. During the discussion on the work, it's been pointed o=
ut that while this is a departure from the ECRIT architecture for emergency=
calling, we should support it as ETSI will use it in their emergency calli=
ng architecture. Since the ETSI emergency calling architecture is unknown =
by ECRIT, the chairs are exploring ways to liaise with ETSI so we have a be=
tter understanding of their requirements and architecture.

This feature is currently not supported in the HELD protocol =
as it's not required in the ECRIT emergency calling architecture. Therefor=
e, the ECRIT working group would like to better understand the requirements=
of E2NA work that is driving this request. Would it be possible to exchan=
ge architectural features and requirements such that we can better understa=
