Hello,

The protocol team met in Virginia last month and made good progress.
There is a follow-up meeting next week to finish some loose bits in
preparation for IETF70.

Mark will be re-submitting both the framework draft and the
requirements draft with some changes as per the Virginia meeting.

In addition there will be another draft submission coming before
IETF70 - draft-begen-fecframe-sdp-elements - hopefully soon after the
proto meeting next week.

The WG charter will be changed to reflect the current schedule and to
remove the original early submission of the requirements draft as a
proposed standard, instead allowing it to remain open in the WG to
grow along with what is learned through the protocol specification
process.

If there are any additional agenda items for IETF70, please send them
too me soon.

Thanks!,
Greg

Hi everyone,

Following the design team meeting, I submitted a new draft yesterday
explaining how a Content Delivery Protocol or FEC scheme could use SDP
to configure the FEC Framework. For a background on FEC Framework, a new
version of the fecframe draft will be submitted shortly.=20

This SDP draft should be read after the fecframe draft is read.

The link:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-begen-fecframe-sdp-elements-00
.txt

If there are any questions/comments on the draft, we can discuss on the
email list before the December meeting.

Thanks,
-acbegen

A new version of I-D, draft-begen-fecframe-sdp-elements-00.txt has been
successfuly submitted by Ali Begen and posted to the IETF repository.

Filename: draft-begen-fecframe-sdp-elements
Revision: 00
Title: SDP Elements for FEC Framework
Creation_date: 2007-11-11
WG ID: Independent Submission
Number_of_pages: 14

Abstract:
This document specifies the use of Session Description Protocol (SDP) to
describe the parameters required to signal the Forward Error Correction
(FEC) Framework Configuration Information between the
sender(s) and receiver(s). This document also provides the semantics
for grouping multiple source and repair flows together for the
applications that simultaneously use multiple instances of the FEC
Framework.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the FEC Framework Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Forward Error Correction (FEC) Framework
	Author(s) : M. Watson
	Filename : draft-ietf-fecframe-framework-01.txt
	Pages : 34
	Date : 2007-11-16

This document describes for a framework for using forward error
correction (FEC) codes with applications in public and private IP
networks to provide protection against packet loss. The framework
supports applying Forward Error Correction to arbitrary packet flows
over unreliable transport and is primarily intended for real-time, or
streaming, media. This framework can be used to define Content
Delivery Protocols that provide Forward Error Correction for
streaming media delivery or other packet flows. Content Delivery
Protocols defined using this framework can support any FEC Scheme
(and associated FEC codes) which is compliant with various
requirements defined in this document. Thus, Content Delivery
Protocols can be defined which are not specific to a particular FEC
Scheme and FEC Schemes can be defined which are not specific to a
particular Content Delivery Protocol.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-fecframe-framework-01.txt

To remove yourself from the I-D Announcement list, send a message to
i-d-announce-request@ietf.org with the word unsubscribe in the body of
the message.
You can also visit https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/I-D-announce
to change your subscription settings.

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the
username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After
logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-fecframe-framework-01.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-fecframe-framework-01.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

Do we have any agenda for our meeting on Dec. 3rd?

FYI, the SDP draft is also scheduled for a short presentation in MMUSIC
WG as well on Dec. 4th.
