A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts director=
ies. This draft is a work item of the FEC Framework Working Group of the IE=
TF.

Title : Simple Reed-Solomon Forward Error Correction (FEC) Schem=
e for FECFRAME
	Author(s) : Vincent Roca
                          Mathieu Cunche
                          Jerome Lacan
                          Amine Bouabdallah
                          Kazuhisa Matsuzono
	Filename : draft-ietf-fecframe-simple-rs-01.txt
	Pages : 21
	Date : 2011-09-14

This document describes a fully-specified simple FEC scheme for Reed-
   Solomon codes over GF(2^^m), with 2 <=3D m <=3D 16, that can be us=
ed to
protect arbitrary media streams along the lines defined by the
FECFRAME framework. Reed-Solomon codes belong to the class of
Maximum Distance Separable (MDS) codes which means they offer optimal
protection against packet erasures. They are also systematic codes,
which means that the source symbols are part of the encoding symbols.
The price to pay is a limit on the maximum source block size, on the
maximum number of encoding symbols, and a computational complexity
higher than that of LDPC codes for instance.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts director=
ies. This draft is a work item of the FEC Framework Working Group of the IE=
TF.

Title : Simple LDPC-Staircase Forward Error Correction (FEC) Sch=
eme for FECFRAME
	Author(s) : Vincent Roca
                          Mathieu Cunche
                          Jerome Lacan

	Pages : 20
	Date : 2011-09-14

This document describes a fully-specified simple FEC scheme for LDPC-
Staircase codes that can be used to protect media streams along the
lines defined by the FECFRAME framework. These codes have many
interesting properties: they are systematic codes, they perform close
to ideal codes in many use-cases and they also feature very high
encoding and decoding throughputs. LDPC-Staircase codes are
therefore a good solution to protect a single high bitrate source
flow, or to protect globally several mid-rate flows within a single
FECFRAME instance. They are also a good solution whenever the
processing load of a software encoder or decoder must be kept to a
   minimum.

Hello Greg,

The FECFRAME framework RFC is about to be published as you noticed,
so it's probably time to finish the WG's pending work.

I've submitted new versions for the "simple Reed-Solomon" and "simple
LDPC" I-Ds, since both documents expired earlier this month. There is no
significant difference (these documents were already finalized in our =
opinion
at the time they were submitted, in March). I've just anticipated a =
little bit the
framework RFC publication ;-)

Can you start WGLC on these documents? Thanks.

Cheers,

Vincent (on behalf of the authors)=

Yes!

Looks like I have another LC to call too (I had a mail filter issue, sorry.=
)

I'll send LC emails for each so we'll have a logical thread.

Thanks!,
Greg

the group before Taipei and give David something to brag about. ;-)

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts director=
ies. This draft is a work item of the FEC Framework Working Group of the IE=
TF.

Title : Raptor FEC Schemes for FECFRAME
	Author(s) : Mark Watson
                          Thomas Stockhammer
                          Michael Luby
	Filename : draft-ietf-fecframe-raptor-05.txt
	Pages : 21
	Date : 2011-09-18

This document describes Fully-Specified Forward Error Correction
(FEC) Schemes for the Raptor and RaptorQ codes and their application
to reliable delivery of media streams in the context of FEC
Framework. The Raptor and RaptorQ codes are systematic codes, where
a number of repair symbols are generated from a set of source symbols
and sent in one or more repair flows in addition to the source
symbols that are sent to the receiver(s) within a source flow. The
Raptor and RaptorQ codes offer close to optimal protection against
arbitrary packet losses at a low computational complexity. Six FEC
Schemes are defined, two for protection of arbitrary packet flows,
two that are optimised for small source blocks and another two for
protection of a single flow that already contains a sequence number.
Repair data may be sent over arbitrary datagram transport (e.g. UDP)
   or using RTP.

Dear all,

a new draft for Raptor FEC schemes for FECFRAME has been submitted.
It addresses the remaining nits from version 04.

This should resolve the remaining obstacles to move forward with Last =
Call.

Thanks

Thomas
