I should have added to my previous email that it's time for me to construct
the agenda. If there's anything you would like on the agenda, please drop
me a line. In general, the current drafts will be scheduled first, and new
business, if any, will follow after that.

Also, one other note - if you're from the US, don't forget your
E-Visa!!! It's a pretty painless process, or at least it was for me! Talk
to your travel agent about it.

Cheers,
Andy

Frnetmibbers,

To aid you in your travel scheduling, we are currently scheduled to meet on
Monday morning in Adelaide:

MONDAY, March 27, 2000
0800-0900 Continental Breakfast
0900-0930 Opening Plenary Session
0930-1130 Morning Sessions
INT frnetmib Frame Relay Service MIB WG

Note that this scheduling is still subject to change, although they will
try to keep us in this time slot if at all possible.

When planning your travel (if you haven't already), remember that it may
take almost two days of adjusted clock time to reach Adelaide, depending on
where you're starting from of course. In my case, for example, I am
leaving Boston at 5:30 PM on Thursday 3/23, changing planes in LA, changing
planes again in Melbourne, and arriving in Adelaide at 11:10 AM local time
on Saturday 3/25. Your results may vary. :-)

To further confuse things, Adelaide is offset from most of the rest of the
world by 30 minutes, AND Australian Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday
3/26. Once they have left DST on 3/26, they will be +9:30 with respect to GMT.

And also keep in mind that European DST begins on Sunday 3/26, and US DST
begins on the following Sunday, 4/2. Can you keep that all straight? :-)

Cheers,
Andy

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Frame Relay Service MIB Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Definitions of Managed Objects for Frame Relay Service
                          Level Definitions
	Author(s)	: R. Steinberger, O. Nicklass
	Filename	: draft-ietf-frnetmib-frmrelay-service-00.txt
	Pages : 44
	Date : 08-Feb-00

This memo defines an extension of the Management Information Base
(MIB) for use with network management protocols in TCP/IP-based
internets. In particular, it defines objects for managing the Frame
Relay Service Level Definitions. This memo does not specify a
standard for the Internet community.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-frnetmib-frmrelay-service-00.txt

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the username
"anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After logging in,
type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-frnetmib-frmrelay-service-00.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-frnetmib-frmrelay-service-00.txt".

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

In his review of draft-ietf-frnetmib-frs-mib-09.txt, Dave Perkins has
questioned the purpose of the objects frLportVCSigPointer and
frLportVCSigPointerAdmin.

These objects are object identifiers with descriptions that claim:

-------------

The value of this object is used as a pointer to the table that contains the

Local In-Channel Signaling Protocol parameters and errors for this UNI/NNI
logical port.

See the Frame Relay Management VC Signaling Parameters and Errors Group.

-------------

However, neither RFC1604 or draft-ietf-frnetmib-frs-mib-09.txt appear to
need this pointer. A single table, frMgtVCSigTable, provides a set of
columns that handle all possible signaling mechanisms. The table is indexed
by the ifIndex of the interface. This simple scheme eliminates the need to
have multiple table types, one for each signaling protocol. As a result, it
appears that the object frLportVCSigPointer is superfluous - since we don't
have multiple table types to select from.

I would like to change the status of frLportVCSigPointer from "current" to
"obsolete". I would also like to remove the new object
frLportVCSigPointerAdmin from the draft.

If there are no objections, I will make these changes in the next I-D that
gets published.

Regards,
Ken
