The "Ethernet Adaptation Layer" I am describing is a new name.  But the 
behaviour is there for many years in implementations.

Implementations adapt between 802.11 Headers and Ethernet II Headers.

This adaptation is not only happening in a bridge.  It als happening in 
a computer with a single WiFi interface: the Ethernet Adaptation Layer 
adapts between 802.11 Headers and EthernetII Headers in that computer.

The IP stack sees only the EthernetII Headers.  This is illustrated in 
the following figure copied from the draft.

Do you agree with this concept of "Ethernet Adaptation Layer"?

If I understand your Word correctly, you propose the addition of the

You are pointing that the section 5.4 "Address Mapping -- Unicast"=20
section is empty.

I will explain why.

This section is one of the most difficult sections to write.

The original intention was that be precisely the same as section 6=20
"Address Mapping -- Unicast" of RFC2464.

But process: IETF 6MAN WG committed on a path of updating the status of=20
'core' IPv6 specs, including RFC 2464.  A promising document in that=20
direction is draft-hinden-6man-rfc2464bis-01. This document is an=20
individual proposal at this time.  Maybe soon there will be a call for=20
adoption as WG item.  Until that's done, it's hard to say whether it's=20
legitimate or not to copy something from it.

The text in question, that should come into our draft, in section=20
"Address Mapping -- Unicast", is the following:

You will notice that text has a number of issues, that I list here for=20
information:

- the [DISC] reference is RFC4861.  That text uses terms 'mapping' and=20
'resolving' alternatively.  Whereas here we only say 'mapping'.=20
'Mapping' is ambiguous in that it some times involve a message exchange=20
like ND, other times not like when following a pre-written rule.  I=20
would prefer to use 'resolve'.  But will that make it different from=20
RFC2464?  Too big difference?

- the text seems to recommend to have a direct relationship between an=20
Ethernet Address and an IP address.  This is an old formulation that=20
IETF is trying to move away from; many RFCs were issued recently about=20
these Interface IDs ensuring privacy.

Overall, this text deserves much clarification that I am not able to=20
propose right now.

This should be further discussed before having text there.

Abstract:
   In order to transmit IPv6 packets on IEEE 802.11 networks run outside
   the context of a basic service set (OCB, earlier "802.11p") there is
   a need to define a few parameters such as the recommended Maximum
   Transmission Unit size, the header format preceding the IPv6 header,
   the Type value within it, and others.  This document describes these
   parameters for IPv6 and IEEE 802.11 OCB networks; it portrays the
   layering of IPv6 on 802.11 OCB similarly to other known 802.11 and
   Ethernet layers - by using an Ethernet Adaptation Layer.

   In addition, the document attempts to list what is different in
   802.11 OCB (802.11p) compared to more 'traditional' 802.11a/b/g/n
   layers, layers over which IPv6 protocols operates without issues.
   Most notably, the operation outside the context of a BSS (OCB) has
   impact on IPv6 handover behaviour and on IPv6 security.

   An example of an IPv6 packet captured while transmitted over an IEEE
   802.11 OCB link (802.11p) is given.

Hi participants in IPWAVE WG,

This new version of the draft addresses comments received recently from 
Michelle Wetterwald and Dick Roy.

Please use this draft for further discussion.

This is the draft that will be discussed in Chicago.

The changelog is:
o Replaced almost all occurences of 802.11p with 802.11-OCB, leaving
   only when explanation of evolution was necessary.
o Shortened by removing parameter details from a paragraph in the
   Introduction.
o Moved a reference from Normative to Informative.
o Added text in intro clarifying there is no handover spec at IEEE,
   and that 1609.2 does provide security services.
o Named the contents the fields of the EthernetII header (including
   the Ethertype bitstring).
o Improved relationship between two paragraphs describing the
   increase of the Sequence Number in 802.11 header upon IP
   fragmentation.
o Added brief clarification of "tracking".

Hello IPWAVErs,

The following questioning was made about this text:

The question is "if 802.11 OCB operates like 802.11 WiFi, then what is
the point of 802.11 OCB?"

My answer to this is that the reader should read it better.  The text
does not say that 802.11 OCB operates like 802.11 WiFi does.  The text
says that the IPv6 network layer operates on OCB as on WiFi.

That does not mean OCB operates the same as WiFi.

As such there is no need to improve the text.

What do you think, FranÃ§ois ?

If, on the other hand, the question was about how IPv6 operates on WiFi,
then I could agree with some consequences of some of the potential
answers...

I have updated the draft: Transport Layer Security (TLS) Authentication using ITS ETSI and IEEE certificates,

My team and I currently working on three major secure vehicular communications projects in Europe: Intercor, SCOOP@F and C-Road. The purpose of this projects is the setting of public key infrastructure for vehicular network. we use the ETSI and IEEE-1609 certificates to make secure link inter-vehicles and between vehicle and its network infrastructure. 

In this context we propose the draft: "Transport Layer Security (TLS) Authentication using ITS ETSI and IEEE certificates". We extend TLS to support ETSI and IEEE-1609 certificates. This extension is very usefull and has become a pressing need. We already validated our proposal with two implementations over OPENSSL and GNUTLS librairies. Now we want to submit our work on your IETF working group for review. Your working group would be most appropriate for the proposed draft. Could you please send me your comments.

You need to be specific throughout your document that you are talking 
about IEEE 1609 certificates.  They are NOT the only 'IEEE 
certificates'.  IEEE 802.1AR certificates (and are used here in IETF 
work) have been around longer, and I suspect there are others.

So avoid using 'IEEE certificate' anywhere in your document.
