Hi Matt,

Mirja and I think your proposed contribution would be in scope and a
good addition for the next MAPRG meeting in Chicago during IETF 98.
We received a number of strong submissions and have a packed agenda.

Can you please confirm that you can present in a 5 minute time slot?
The meeting is currently schedule for Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 09:00 -
11:30 CDT (localtime Chicago.)

If you agree, confirm by replying as soon as possible and include the
title and abstract as you'd like it to appear in the meeting agenda.

Also, then, please plan to send a version of your slides to us by
March 21 so that we can review and provide you feedback.

Thanks!
Dave & Mirja

1st ACM Workshop on Research Reproducibility=20
In conjunction with ACM SIGCOMM 2017, Los Angeles, USA
August 21, 2017

=
http://conferences.sigcomm.org/sigcomm/2017/workshop-reproducibility.html =
<http://conferences.sigcomm.org/sigcomm/2017/workshop-reproducibility.html=

** CALL FOR PAPERS **

Ensuring the reproducibility of results is essential in experimental =
sciences. Unfortunately,=20
as highlighted recently, a large proportion of research results are =
hardly, if not at all,=20
reproducible, raising reasonable doubts on the research lead by =
scientists around the=20
world.

To address this important issue, the ACM has introduced a new policy on =
result and artifact=20
review and badging. The policy defines clearly the terminology to be =
used to assess=20
results and artifacts but does not specify the review process.

The goal of the workshop is to craft recommendations on research results =
and artifacts=20
review process for conferences and journals of the SIGCOMM interest =
group. To achieve=20
this goal, the workshop is structured as a forum where presenters will =
discuss with=20
attendees their experience in reviewing research results and artifacts.

To prepare the discussion authors are requested to submit discussions =
around papers=20
published in the various conferences in recent years, with experimental =
results and=20
artifacts. Submitted papers to the workshop will provide an extended =
abstract with either=20
feedback on the actual review of papers in these conferences or =
proposals of methods=20
to review papers, from a results and artifact perspective. To emulate =
discussions before=20
but also after the workshop, an open virtual forum is set in place to =
exchange ideas
and experiences: http://reproducibility.lisp-lab.org =
<http://reproducibility.lisp-lab.org/>

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

=E2=80=93 Reviewing experience;
=E2=80=93 Enabling environments and tools for reproducibility;
=E2=80=93 Methods and tools to anonymize datasets;
=E2=80=93 Testbeds for reproducible research;
=E2=80=93 Platforms to share experimental results and artifacts.

The workshop will try to answer questions rose by the ACM such as:

=E2=80=93 Should reviews occur before or after acceptance of a paper?
=E2=80=93 How many reviewers should there be?
=E2=80=93 Should the reviewers be anonymous, or should they be allowed =
to interact openly with the authors?
=E2=80=93 How should artifacts be packaged for review?
=E2=80=93 What specific metrics should be used to assess quality?

Submissions must be original unpublished work. Submitted papers must be =
at most three (3) pages=20
long, including all figures, tables, references, and appendices in =
two-column 10pt ACM format.=20
Papers must include authors names and affiliations for peer reviewing by =
the PC. Authors are
 invited to follow the terminology defined by the ACM Result and =
Artifact Review and Badging=20
publication policy =
(https://www.acm.org/publications/policies/artifact-review-badging =
<https://www.acm.org/publications/policies/artifact-review-badging>). =

Hi all,

The draft agenda for our next meeting is online:

https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/98/agenda/maprg/

We are quite pleased with the strong set of candidate contributions
received - thanks! - and also regretful that we had more submissions
than this meeting time allows.

See the agenda link above for abstracts of all talks!

Looking forward to see in Chicago! (Dave's part of the world - the
Great Lakes region)

Dave and Mirja

> The second edition of the ACM, IRTF & ISOC Applied Networking Research
> Workshop 2017 (ANRW=E2=80=9917) is an academic workshop that provides =
a forum
> for researchers, vendors, network operators and the Internet standards
> community to present and discuss emerging results in applied
> networking research. It is sponsored by ACM SIGCOMM, the Internet
> Research Task Force (IRTF) and the Internet Society (ISOC).
>=20
> Researchers should consider submitting early/emerging results that
> illustrate the scientific and engineering principles underlying the
> Internet architecture, protocols and applications; that demonstrate
> new capabilities, features, or extensions to the Internet protocol
> layers; that enhance our understanding of how Internet protocols work
> in real-world deployments or realistic test-beds; or that improve
> Internet security and privacy, scalability, performance, and
> robustness.
>=20
> The ANRW=E2=80=9917 particularly encourages the submission of results =
that
> could form the basis for future engineering work in the IETF, that
> could change operational Internet practices, that can help better
> specify Internet protocols, or that could influence further research
> and experimentation in the IRTF.
>=20
> Topics of Interest
> ------------------
>=20
> Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, applied work in
> the following areas:
>=20
> * Evolving Internet architecture and deployment of new Internet
>  working paradigms
> * Naming, addressing, and routing for the (future) Internet
> * Development and deployment of new and improved transport protocols
> * Congestion control for heterogeneous networks and novel applications
> * Improvements to the security and privacy of Internet protocols
> * Studies that characterize Internet security, privacy or censorship
> * Measuring and understanding the behavior and transparency of the
>  Internet
> * Internetworking and semantic interoperability for
>  resource-constrained devices
> * New approaches to network management, operations, and control
> * Better ways of specifying protocols, including usable techniques for
>  protocol verification
> * Enabling global access to the Internet
> * Improving the energy efficiency of the Internet
> * Protocols and APIs for new Internet applications
> * New approaches to decentralized mobility management
> * Application of network programmability to the Internet
> * Approaches towards decentralizing and democratizing the Internet
> * Systems and protocols that enable extending the reach of the =
Internet
>=20
>=20
> Full papers and short papers
> ----------------------------
>=20
> The ANRW accepts two types of submissions: full papers and short =
papers.
>=20
> Full paper submissions describe original research on the topics above
> and may contain up to six pages of technical content, including
> figures, tables, appendices, etc. plus unlimited pages for references
> and acknowledgements only. The six page limit is strictly enforced,
> even a single line exceeding six pages will lead to rejection without
> review. We expect full papers to contain at least a preliminary
> evaluation.
>=20
> Accepted full papers will be presented and discussed in depth at the
> workshop, and will be published in the ACM Digital Library.
>=20
> Short paper submissions are suitable for short position papers, for
> starting a discussion on new technical ideas, to present very early
> results, or to present other topics of interest to the community
> (software and tools, research initiatives or collaborative projects,
> major new funding vessels, etc.). They may contain up to two pages of
> content including figures, tables, any appendices, etc., optionally
> followed by a single additional page for references and
> acknowledgments only.
>=20
> Accepted short papers will be briefly presented during the workshop,
> and will be published in the ACM Digital Library.
>=20
> Authors of accepted short papers should also bring a poster presenting
> its content to the workshop, for display and more in-depth discussion
> with interested participants during the breaks.
>=20
>=20
> Under no circumstances should authors submit previously published
> work, submit the same work simultaneously to multiple venues, or
> submit papers that plagiarize the work of other authors. The ACM
> Policy and Procedures on Plagiarism applies to the ANRW, and action
> will be taken against submitters who have engaged in such practices.
>=20
> Papers accompanied by nondisclosure agreement requests will not be

1st ACM Workshop on Research Reproducibility=20
In conjunction with ACM SIGCOMM 2017, Los Angeles, USA
August 21, 2017

=
http://conferences.sigcomm.org/sigcomm/2017/workshop-reproducibility.html =
<http://conferences.sigcomm.org/sigcomm/2017/workshop-reproducibility.html=
>

** CALL FOR PAPERS **

Ensuring the reproducibility of results is essential in experimental =
sciences. Unfortunately,=20
as highlighted recently, a large proportion of research results are =
hardly, if not at all,=20
reproducible, raising reasonable doubts on the research lead by =
scientists around the=20
world.

To address this important issue, the ACM has introduced a new policy on =
result and artifact=20
review and badging. The policy defines clearly the terminology to be =
used to assess=20
results and artifacts but does not specify the review process.

The goal of the workshop is to craft recommendations on research results =
and artifacts=20
review process for conferences and journals of the SIGCOMM interest =
group. To achieve=20
this goal, the workshop is structured as a forum where presenters will =
discuss with=20
attendees their experience in reviewing research results and artifacts.

To prepare the discussion authors are requested to submit discussions =
around papers=20
published in the various conferences in recent years, with experimental =
results and=20
artifacts. Submitted papers to the workshop will provide an extended =
abstract with either=20
feedback on the actual review of papers in these conferences or =
proposals of methods=20
to review papers, from a results and artifact perspective. To emulate =
discussions before=20
but also after the workshop, an open virtual forum is set in place to =
exchange ideas
and experiences: http://reproducibility.lisp-lab.org =
<http://reproducibility.lisp-lab.org/>

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

=E2=80=93 Reviewing experience;
=E2=80=93 Enabling environments and tools for reproducibility;
=E2=80=93 Methods and tools to anonymize datasets;
=E2=80=93 Testbeds for reproducible research;

(https://www.acm.org/publications/policies/artifact-review-badging). =
Authors of=20
accepted papers are expected to present their papers at the workshop. =
The outcomes of the=20
workshop will be published in ACM Computer Communication Review (CCR).

To guarantee freedom to attend to everyone, remote attendance will be =
possible for the workshop.

** IMPORTANT DATES **

o January 25, 2017: Opening of the discussion forum and submission =
system (NOW OPEN)
