The Scalable Adaptive Multicast (SAM) RG will
hold an interim meeting, co-located with the
Peer-to-Peer Multicasting Workshop (P2PM 07)
in Las Vegas on January 11, 2007.

P2PM 07 is hosted by IEEE Consumer Communications
and Networking Conference (CCNC) 2007 which will be
held in Las Vegas, NV, USA January 11-13, 2007.
CCNC immediately follows the well-known Consumer
Electronics Show (CES).

The final program for P2PM 07 is available at
http://www.samrg.org/p2pm07/program.html

Prof. Kevin Almeroth will give the P2PM 07 workshop
keynote on
"Multicast Help Wanted: From Where and How Much?".

The expected format of the SAM RG meeting will
be brief presentations on current IDs, followed
by a panel discussion on "Scalable Adaptive Multicast".
The expected scope of this panel will include
discussion of the IDs and the SAM RG workplan.

Attendees to P2PM will be required to pay
a registration fee with IEEE CCNC. If you plan
to attend only the SAMRG meeting, please contact
the RG chairs directly about logistics.

Dear all:
       We've just submitted an updated version of the internet draft
"DMMP: Dynamic Mesh based Overlay Multicast Protocol".

A URL for this updated Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-lei-samrg-dmmp-01.txt

       According to some of your comments and suggestions, we have
revised the following components of the initial draft:

1. The introduction has been changed according to current state-of-the-art.
2. Some changes in the Section 4.1 "Control plane of DMMP" are having
made by adding more detailed descriptions.
3. In the "DMMP Messages" section:
    - the basic DMMP packet format are proposed
    - message types have been reduced to 7 other than 10. Meanwhile,
some of their functionalities have been changed.
4. Inside the "Protocol Specification", three subsections
     - Super node selection
     - Member Join
     - Failure Recovery
   have been accordingly updated.

     Comments and suggestions are warmly welcomed!

Best Regards

Jun

Hi all,

we submitted an updated version of the problem statement
draft on extending Multicast to Mobility.

It should be in the ID directory soon and can immediatly be downloaded
under:

http://www.realmv6.org/papers/draft-schmidt-mobopts-mmcastv6-ps-01.txt

Details:

               Multicast Mobility in MIPv6: Problem Statement
                   <draft-schmidt-mobopts-mmcastv6-ps-01.txt>

Abstract

     In this document we discuss mobility extensions to current IP layer
    multicast solutions. Problems arising from mobile group communication
    in general, in the case of multicast listener mobility and for mobile
    Any Source Multicast as well as Source Specific Multicast senders are
    documented. Characteristic aspects of multicast routing and
    deployment issues are summarized. The principal approaches to the
    multicast mobility problems are outlined subsequently.

The new document not only accounts for all comments / reviews given so
far, but has been extended significantly to incorporate

  o Deployment issues;
  o Current research on the characteristics of multicast routing trees
    under mobility;
  o Fairly exhaustive exploration of the solution space;
  o A large collection of references on various aspects of the subject.

As it seems desirable to advance on the subject, we'd like to emphasize
solicitation of comments & reviews ...

Looking forward to your discussions!

See you in San Diego,

thomas
