Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks: An International Journal
Special Issue on
User-oriented, Service-oriented and Spontaneous Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

http://www.oldcitypublishing.com/AHSWN/AHSWN.html

Overview

There are many Ad Hoc Wireless Networks where several types of users and services must be integrated. In a user-oriented network, the service quality and the corresponding service for each user must be guaranteed. On the other hand, the user behaviour and the services offered for the users could affect to the wireless ad hoc network performance. A spontaneous ad hoc network enables a group of users to work together collaboratively coming together at the same time, and very close to each other, to be able to communicate. They seek to imitate human relationships in order to work together in groups, running on an existing technology. The devices used for this type of networks have limited resources, few computing capacity and low energy consumption. They can be used for the integration of services and users in order to solve a problem or to carry out a specific task, or for sharing services and resources, with no dependence on a central server. The range of environments in whic!
h these networks can be applied is
wide and may include many user collaboration ad hoc wireless systems.

Authors are invited to submit complete unpublished papers, which are not under review in any other journal. The topics suggested can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, standards, designs, implementations, running experiments or applications.

IEEE Communications Magazine

Consumer Communications and Networking Series

Recent trends in consumer networking are that consumers are both
creators and producers of content (albeit of varying quality!) and peer
distribution is the natural model. This is one of the emerging trends
that impact how consumers can use devices to create, manipulate, store,
and access content =97 and is surely a much different view compared to
only five years ago where most experts still viewed the world in terms
of servers and clients, producers and consumers as distinct and separate
entities=85.indeed, there are still dinosaur organizations out there today
who are fighting a rearguard action to protect their dwindling revenue
streams because they haven=92t been brave enough to embrace this new
model. Trends like this are ones that papers for the consumer
communications and networking series should address.

We have also seen the technological reach of existing solutions being
applied in unconventional ways where all aspects of our digital lives
are being consumed to provide novel platforms where interoperation
between disparate technologies is now possible. For example, the
automotive industry is now producing cars that include ad hoc networks
designed to provide multimedia solutions as well as links to wide area
communications via satellite networks. Using these networking
capabilities and interfaces such as USB we see automobile functionality
being extended. In this sense the boundaries between the car and
conventional consumer devices are beginning to blur.

Perhaps the sole technology responsible for the many technological
advances we see today is communications. Example communications
technologies include the emergence of 3G and 4G, LTE and WiMax,
Bluetooth, Zigbee, Ultrawideband, TV-band, and Powerline and Free space
optical. Applications of these technologies include personal and body
area networking, home networking, game networking, ad-hoc networking,
and sensor networking. These networks may be connected through
networking layers that are cognitive, peer-to-peer enabled, and have the
properties of self organisation and management. These networks will
become key enablers where we are already seeing ubiquitous content
distribution models, for example, television can now be viewed wherever
we are and on any devices capable of connecting to one of the many
networking paradigms defined above. With these networks we can expect a
platform for true innovation where content distribution will overlay
these networks using compression, rights management, delivery, and
appropriate quality of service mechanisms that can be seamlessly moved
over these next generation networks. All of this is made possible by
networking, software and middleware that present to the service designer
the tools to provide ease of use, security, and stunning interactivity
to the end consumer.

With this in mind the IEEE Communications Magazine is seeking papers
that emphasize consumer networking in whatever physical environment it
finds itself. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the
following:

Dear all,

we have requested a meeting slot for IETF 78 in Maastricht. Due to some
collisions, we have asked to schedule the meeting on Friday.

Even though this is an early announcement, please start to think and
tell us about your plans for presentations at your earliest convenience.

Best regards,

Thomas

[Our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this CfP]

                         CALL FOR PAPERS

** 1st Workshop on Pervasive Group Communication (IEEE PerGroup) **

                 URL: http://pergroup.realmv6.org

Miami, FL, USA, December 6, 2010,

held in conjunction with IEEE GLOBECOM 2010,

and co-sponsored by IEEE HCCTC sub-committee,
G-Lab, and The unbelievable Machine Company

Group communications have passed from research to deployment and back to
a research issue. Newly deployed services, in particular IPTV, P2P
content distribution, and collaborative applications, are stimulating
current research on multicast, broadcast, concast, and anycast. Emerging
design issues for a future multi-service Internet combined with the
dynamic development of wireless access techonologies challenge the
community to rethink the position of group communications along the
stack.

The PerGroup workshop invites the community to share efforts in search
of seamless, pervasive group services, and to discuss directions on a
human-centric multi-service Inter-networking architecture. We welcome
contributions that design new solutions or analyze existing deployments,
but also those that present striking problem statements or early
conceptual work.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

System Design & Methodology:
   - Architectures and protocols for fixed, wireless and ad hoc networks
   - Protocols and interfaces for intuitive group communications
   - Intra- and Inter-domain group communication
   - Native, overlay (including P2P) and hybrid multicast
   - Topology analysis & measuring, mining and modeling of
   - media-rich social networks
   - Measurement, simulation and analytical studies as well as deployment
     experiences

Supporting Technologies:
   - Multipath routing / extension of emerging routing schemes
   - Cooperative relaying and network coding
   - Service placement and service location
   - Security and privacy issues for multicast, anycast, and broadcast
   - Real-time and QoS aspects

Applications:
   - Adaptive content distribution, e.g., video broadcasting
   - Application-layer traffic optimization and provider interaction
   - Multicast & anycast in a future multi-service Internet
   - New data distribution models to facilitate group communication
   - Frameworks for human centric based group communications
