Hi,
I would like to know if there is any recommended action ( like : given below
)to be taken when the sctp stack receives an ERROR chunk with INVALID_STREAM_ID.

  - dropping all the packets sent on this stream from the Tx q and notifying ULP
abt the send failure and deciding no to send any more packets on this stream )
- ABORT the connection and restart it so that stream negotioation can be done
agian.
etc ..

thanks,
ashraf

I am not sure what the recommended action should be :> The one big key
is you better be announcing the problem to some log ..since if you send to
a invalid stream your stack (or possibly your peers) has a software
bug... i.e.
either you negotiated the number of streams to be X and are using X+1 or
you negotiated the number of streams to be X and your peer somehow thinks
it is less than X...

Either way a log of the error is appropriate and then the gulity party
needs to
find and fix the bug :>

Dear all:

I have posted a patch to the www.sctp.org web site for our
FreeBSD/NetBSD/OpenBSD - Kame
based implementation. On the web site you will find details of all of
the patche fixes. This
patch (number 4) as also been sent to kame.net and hopefully will show
up soon in kame's
regular snap. The patch is to the current cvs tree of kame but should
work with any snap
within the last two weeks.

You can find the patch at:

http://www.sctp.org

Note an IP address is being changed for my multi-homed web site.. you
may find it
easier to access it via (and yes my web server is sctp equiped so if you
have the
sctp version of mozilla it should work :>):

http://67.38.193.238

The IP address that did not change.

Happy new year and warmest regards

R

From the Desk of:
Desmond Osa
Banking Operations,
First Bank Of Nigeria Plc.,
Lagos-Nigeria.

Dear Sir,
STRICTLY A PRIVATE BUSINESS PROPOSAL

I am Mr.Desmond Osa,
The Executive Director,
of Banking Operations
the First Bank Of Nigeria Plc.

I am writing this letter to ask for your support and cooperation to
carry out this business opportunity in my department.

We discovered an abandoned sum of $15,000,000.00 (Fifteen million
United States Dollars only)in an account that belongs to one of our
foreign customers who died along with his entire family of a wife and
two children in November 1997 in a Plane crash.

Since we heard of his death, we have been expecting his next-of-kin
to
come over and put claims for his money as the heir, because we cannot
release the fund from his account unless someone applies for claim as
the next-of-kin to the deceased as indicated in our banking
guidelines.

Unfortunately, neither their family member nor distant relative has
ever appeared to claim the said fund. Upon this discovery, I and
other
officials in my department have agreed to make business with you and
release the total amount into your account as the heir of the fund
since no one came for it or discovered he maintained account with our
bank, otherwise the fund will be returned to the banks treasury as
unclaimed fund.

We have agreed that our ratio of sharing will be as stated thus;

20 % for you as foreign partner,
75 % for us the officials in my department and
5 % for the settlement of all local and foreign expenses incurred by
us
and you during the course of this business.

Upon the successful completion of this transfer, I and one of my
colleagues will come to your country and mind our share. It is from
our 75 % we intend to import Agricultural Machineries into my country
as a way of recycling the fund. To commence this transaction, we
require you to immediately indicate your interest by a return e-mail
and enclose your private contact telephone number, fax number full
name and address and your designated bank coordinates to enable us
file letter of claim to the appropriate departments for necessary
approvals before the transfer can be made.

Note also, this transaction must be kept STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL
because
of its nature.

I look forward to receiving your prompt response.

Mr. Desmond Osa
Banking Operations,
First Bank Of Nigeria Plc.,
Lagos-Nigeria.

Complements of the day.Grace, Peace and love to you. I hope my letter does =
not cause you too much embarrassment as I write to you in good faith. Please =
excuse my intrusion into you business life.
My name is Cole Moyo, the elder son of Mr.Dennnis Moyo from the Republic of =
Zimbabwe. During the current war against the farmers in Zimbabwe from the =
supporters of President Robert Mugabe,in his effort to chase all the white =
farmers out of the country, he ordered all the white farmers to surrender =
their farms to his party members and his followes.
My father was one of the most successful farmer in my country, but he did =
not support the idea of dispossessing the white farmers of their land. =
Because of this, his farm was invaded and burnt by government supporters. In =
the course of the attack, my father was killed, and the invaders made away =
with a lot of items from my Father=92s farm. And our family house was utterly =
destroyed. My mother died too out of heart attack. Before the death of my =
father, he drew my attention to the sum of US$10 MILLION, Which he deposited =
with a Security Company in Amsterdam when the crisis was coming up.
My sister and I decided to move out of Zimbabwe for our own security, because =
our lives were in danger. We decided to move to the Amsterdam, The =
Netherlands where my father deposited this money. Till date, the security =
company is not aware of the content of the consignment because my father used =
his diplomatic immunity as at That time to deposit the consignment as =
important personal valuables.
I decided to have contact with overseas person/firm who will assist me to =
move the money out of Amsterdam. This becomes necessary because as political =
asylum seekers, we are not allowed to own or operate a bank account. If you =
accept this proposal, you shall receive 20% of the entire amount for =
assisting us to move this money out, 75% of this amount shall be for us, and =
the remaining 5% shall be mapped out for expenses incurred in the course of =
the transaction.
I want you to immediately confirm your interest in the project via my fax =
number, as soon as I get your response, I will give you more details on how =
we can proceed.
Thanks for your anticipated cooperation. I await your Urgent response
Best regards,
COLE MOYO.

ATTN:

Miss Sarah Hendrich
Johannesburg 2000,
South Africa

I am Miss Sarah Hendrich, the daughter of late Sir John
Hendrich, the
re-knowned white Zimbabwean wine and cattle farmer.

I got you contact courtesy of a business journal from the
South African
information exchange, here in johannesburg.

During the war waged against the farmers in Zimbabwe by the
supporters
and cohorts of President Robert Mugabe to claim all the
white owned
farms in our country,my late father's big farms were among
those
targetted by the ZANU-PF armed group.

In the course of the revolution in Zimbabwe, the ZANU-PF
armed group
attacked and invaded
my father=92s farms, burning, destroying and eventually
killing him.

After my father=92s death last year, I managed to
escape the
boundaries
of Zimbabwe into
South Africa, because my life was threatened and Zimbabwe
was no longer
safe for me.

I escaped safely into South Africa with my Father=92s
lifetime fortune of
US$20m (Twenty million,
US dollars) cash, bonds, important documents of property
title and
other valuables as he instructed to do before he died.

The money and valuables were concealed and secured in two
treasure
boxes, and were transported to Johannesburg through
diplomatic means.

The boxes are currently safely secured in the vaults of a
private
security and brokerage firm here in Johannesburg.

Presently, I am residing temporarily in johannesburg
pending the
outcome of an appeal filed on my behalf by my attorney for
the Department of
Home Affairs to grant us political asylum.

I am in a dilemma on how to move this money safely out of
South Africa
for investments. Moreover due to South Africa=92s
government=92s stringent
monetary
policies/regulations and the sensitive and volatile
political status of
the region,it would be most
dangerous to attempt investments here as such act could
jeopardize my
chances.

In recognition of your personal executive powers and
investment
opportunities that abound in your country,I solicit for
your assistance in
moving this money out of Africa.

I will also like to use this money for investment in your
country,you
will guide all my future investment in your country and it
will be
operated on partnership level.

You will be getting 20% of the total investment capital
moved to your
country,as your share for
assistance and the balance will be pluged into the
investment projects.

FROM: PRINCE JIDE WILLIAMS
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA.
EMAIL,jidewilliams2000@epatra.com

REQUEST FOR URGENT ASSISTANCE/INVESTMENT.
Dear Sir/Madam ,

My names is PRINCE JIDE WILLIAMS, the elder son of Mr.
ANTHONY WILLIAMS,of Zimbabwe. It might be a surprise to
you where I got your contact address, I got it from
network on line, South African. During the current
crises against the farmers of Zimbabwe by the
supporters of our President Robert Mugabe to claim all
the white owned farms in our country, he ordered all
the white farmers to surrender their farms to his
party members and their followers.

My father was one of the best farmers in the country
and knowing that he did not support the president’s
political ideology, the president’s supporters invaded
my father’s farm burnt down everything, shot him and
as a result of the wounds sustained, he became sick
and died a! fter two days. And after his death, I with
my younger Brother decided to move out of Zimbabwe for
the safety of our lives to South-Africa.

BUT, before he died HE WROTE HIS WILL, which reads
"(MY BELOVEED SON ,I WISH TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO
THE SUM OF ($25,000,000=00). MILLION U.S DOLLARS WHICH
I DEPOSITED IN A BOX WITH A SECURITY COMPANY IN
JOHANNESBURG (SOUTH-AFRICA). IN CASE OF MY ABSENCE ON
EARTH CAUSED BY DEATH ONLY". You should solicit for
reliable foreign partner to assist you to transfer
this money out of South Africa for investment purpose.
I deposited the money in your name and it can be
claimed by you alone with the deposit code. your
mother has all the documents. Take good care of your
mother and brother."

From the above, you will understand that the lives and
future of my family depends on this money as much, I
will be very grateful if you can assist us. I with my
younger bro! ther are now living in South-Africa as
POLITICAL ASYLUM SEEKERS and the financial law of
SOUTH-AFRICA does not allow ASYLUM SEEKERS certain
financial rights to such huge amount of money .In view
of this, I cannot invest this money in South-Africa,
hence I am asking you to assist me transfer this money
out of South-Africa for investment purposes. For your
efforts, I am prepared to offer you 20% of the total
fund, while 5% will be set aside for local and
international expenses and 75% will be kept for me and
my family .

Finally modalities on how the transfer will be done
will be conveyed to you once we establish trust and
confidence between ourselves. Looking forward to your
urgent reply .For detailed information.
NOTE: THE KEY WORD TO THIS TRANSACTION IS ABSOLUTE
CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECRECY. THIS TRANSACTION IS 100%
RISK FREE. YOUR URGENT RESPONSE WILL BE HIGHLY
APPRECIATED.

BEST REGARDS,

jide williams

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Michael Paddock, President
Grants Office LLC

The Grants Office, L.L.C. was formed in January 2000 to help municipalities and nonprofit organizations maximize grant funding for their programs and to develop among each of them a more strategic, informed approach to seeking and administering grants.

Michael Paddock, CEO, has been a member of the Federal Interagency Electronic Grants Committee's State & Local Sub-Committee, and he helped found the New York State E-Grants Project in Albany.

With the help of an advisory committee, including members of the United Way, Rochester Institute of Technology, Family Service of Rochester, and the Rochester Area Community Foundation, and in consultation with city and county officials, the Grants Office Web Site project began in May 2000. The goal of the project was to create a single point of entry for municipalities and nonprofits to access up-to-date federal, state, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities. In 2002, Grants Office expanded its coverage of grants to include grants for homeland defense and homeland security.

Compliments of the seasons

Good Day!,Sir / Madam

With warm heart I offer my friendship, and greetings, and I hope this mail meets
you in good time. However strange or surprising this contact might seem to
you,as we have not met personally or had any dealings inthe past, I humbly ask
that you take due consideration of its importance and immense benefit. I also
sincerely seek your confidence in this transaction, which I propose to you as a
person of integrity.

First and foremost I wish to introduce myself properly to you. My name is Paul
Oliveira Savimbi, I am a nephew and Personal Assistant to Late Jonas Malheiro
Savimbi, leader of UNITA (National Union for the Total Independence of Angola).
As led by my instinct, I selected your email address from an internet directory,
in my search for a partner, hence this proposal.

My Uncle(Mentor) was killed in a battle with government forces of Angola, led by
President Dos Santos, on Friday 22nd February 2002. After his death, Mr. Antonio
Dembo who was his second in command, assumed office as leader of UNITA, due to
lack of the Charisma my Uncle had carried the party with in Dembo, there was
chaos and struggle for leadership. Prominent members like Carlos Morgado lobbied
to depose him and assume office as leader to enrich themselves and some of them
who saw me as a threat to their ambitions, including Mr.Dembo, planned to kill
me. The tension and confusion in UNITA become uncontrollable when Mr. Dembo died
10days after my Uncle's death. As I lost my mentor in this struggle which has
been on for three decades now, not so much of this struggle interests me
anymore, as there is now no sense of direction. I now desire a peaceful life, as
I am no more interested in conflicts and wars. For this reason, I secretly left
Angola and came here (Europe) to seek political asylum.

I am sincerely proposing to you to render me your highly needed assistance in
respect to safekeeping of some of my Uncle's money that arose from Diamonds
sales. This money (US$18.5million), which was already on its way to my Uncle's
Swiss Bank account, through the Diplomatic means we use to move money abroad,
and was on transit with a private safe deposit Finance / loans Discount house
&Security company here in Amsterdam, Netherlands in February when the tragic
incident of my Uncle's death occurred. I then instructed the company to secure
the consignment containing the money pending on further instructions from me. I
have waited for sometime now for security reasons, and have now deicded to act
with your reliable assistance. As a matter of fact, the reason I came to Holland
and sought for political asylum here is the safe deposit.

President Dos Santos has lobbied the International Community to freeze my
Uncle's assets and accounts abroad, to ground UNITA, and has already done this
in Angola. Hence I cannot lodge the funds in my name. Also I did not declare the
funds to the here.

I plan to use this money to safeguard my future. It is very essential that you
understand that the kind of trust and confidence I want to put in you is
extraordinary, and an act of desperation on my part, in order not to lose this
money. Also, ensure that this contact with you should be treated with utmost
secrecy.

Your role in this project, is clearing the safety deposit containing the money
which is deposited in my name, from the Security company, after which, the money
will lodged into an account preferably a new account you should open for this
transaction. My share of the money will be returned to me when my asylum
application in this country is granted, and I have permission to do business and
open an account here.

For your reliable assistance, I will reward you with 15% ($2,775,000) of the
money.
I have with me, the Certificate of Deposit for the consignment containing the
funds, which will be used for claim from the Finance / Discount house & security
company, and the release codes of the vaults. Also, everything will be legally
processed for transfer of ownership to you, and this transaction should be
completed immediately depending on your prompt response.

I thank you in advance as I anticipate your assistance in enabling me achieve
this goal.

Please contact me whether or not you are interested in assisting me. This will
enable me scout for another partner in the event of non-interest on your part.

To understand the struggle to liberate from communists more, click on the link
below and read.

Well you can reach me through the above mention
phone:0031-648322980 & private box Email:paulsavimbi@rediffmail.com .

Paul Savimbi

Hi Vijay,

another example for sending an ABORT with 'protocol violation' is the
receipt of an invalid INIT, maybe with length too short or with
invalid parameters (sream number values =0 or init tag =0).
This cause code is especially helpful for debugging.

If your SCTP receiver checks that an INIT has to be the only chunk in
an SCTP packet, you can also use this cause code with ABORT when
you receive such a packet.

Kind regards,

Bernward

Hi all,

At the risk of repeating a well beaten question on this list:

What are the benefits of using UDP-style over TCP-style API?

As far as the application programmer's is concerned, in my limited
experience, I haven't seen anything that can be done with UDP-style but
not with TCP-style. Yet the SCTP book (and I think the draft too) says
that the UDP-style interface should be used to "unleash" the full power of
SCTP. Am I missing something?

thanks and regards,
jana/sourabh

We have worked hard to try to get options available to the TCP side to make
it equate to the UDP style... but even at that there is at least one thing
that the UDP style can do that the TCP style can not..

you can do a

send(data,...)
to start an association... this gets it so that you have data bundled
on the cookie-echo.

There were other features that were not accerssable to TCP at one
time.. but as I said we have made ways for a tcp style to use these
too.. even
though they are harder to use...

Expect to see in the next draft a

send_sctp() of some sort that hopfully makes it easier for both TCP and UDP
to use the API..

ABOUT THIS TRAINING CONFERENCE:

Information contributes to every aspect of homeland security and is a vital foundation for the homeland security effort. Every government official performing every homeland security mission depends upon information and information technology.

Although American information technology is the most advanced in the world, our country's information systems have not adequately supported the homeland security mission. Much of the information needed to support the war on terrorism is in disparate databases scattered among federal, state, and local entities. In many cases, these computer systems cannot share information-either "horizontally" (across the same level of government) or "vertically" (between federal, state, and local governments). However, since 9.11, there have been significant efforts to address this challenge.

This conference will examine the many steps now being taken to address this national imperative. Federal, state, local, regional and industry initiatives will be presented. Focus will be on best practices, lessons-learned and innovation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
