Hi folks,

What are odds you all could point an IMAP server at the mailing list
archives <ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf-mail-archive/> so we could access
those mbox files via IMAP?

This isn't something I can easily do right away on the tools servers;
it would involve importing the mail archives and preferably normalize
them to have consistent URLs and file paths, and then checking up on
the memory consumption and performance of the available IMAP servers
to see that it would work on one of the tools servers.

I don't know if it would be easy to do this at the NSS end, where
there is (I think?) already at least one box dedicated to mail...

Michael, Scott - is this something that could be set up easily?

Easily? Not really. Are there public-only imap servers out there?
How does the MUA handle what has been read and not read? With Henrik
there would have to be quite a bit of investigation before offering
this service.

Pete, are there other public services that provide this sort of
feature?

It seems like the alternative is implementing RSS feeds for the
mailing lists. They are available at gmane

Hi!

Sometimes it can be useful to use a wiki page to organize some work in a
WG.

I see there are wiki pages for Chairs, BOFs, IRTF, IESG, IAOC, Trust,
but not for WG's. Could one be created?

I don't think it needs to be organized as one per WG, just having it
possible to create a WG-specific wiki page for some specific work item
seems useful.

Ultimately, having one wiki space for each WG may be nicer, but may
create unnecessarily much overhead for you.

Thanks,
Simon

Thanks,
Simon

Some WGs already have them, and it's on my to-do list to roll this out
for all WGs. If there is a specific WG you'd like this for, let me
know which one or ones, and I'll set it up.

Not at all -- that's the way I'm planning to do it.

Hi Henrik!

This was for the SASL WG, although we've found an external wiki setup
for our purposes, so it is not immediately needed.

Still, had a wiki already been in place via tools.ietf.org, I suspect
we'd never bothered to find an external wiki. Having a wiki in place
may actually inspire people to start using it for various mini-projects
that may otherwise never be published publicly. "Build it and they'll
come" and so on...

Sounds great.

Thanks,
