mailman's "relevant features" don't appear to provide many good
alternatives, even if we're running a newer version:

http://wiki.list.org/DOC/What%20can%20I%20do%20about%20members%20being%20unsubscribed%20by%20bounces%20of%20Yahoo%20user%27s%20posts%20for%20DMARC%20policy%20reasons%3F

But in 2.1.18, there is a dmarc_moderaction_action configuration value:

  http://wiki.list.org/DEV/DMARC

If we're running that version or later, i recommend setting
dmarc_moderaction_action to "Munge From".

What lists like CFRG do is not 'forging', since the mail is indeed from
the purported author.

And DMARC is not (yet) and IETF standard.

The collateral damage that is cited, however, is of course real and
problematic.

Whether IETF lists should hack around the problem is a continuing source
of debate and is controversial enough to warrant IETF-wide rough
consensus, IMO.

Susan Hares has reported that there are some things that could be =
improved regarding the virtual blue sheets. I have to admit that I am =
surprised that PDF is the only supported format. I'm not convinced =
that HTML is a good alternative--I would have picked plain text, =
personally. She also points out that the blue sheets are not visible =
in the proceedings, and wonders if that's intentional.

Ah, so it's for in-person meetings, not virtual meetings. That makes =

An AMS (Secretariat) programmer created the interface for the F2F =
interim bluesheets (at my request) and we are happy to attempt to =
improve as needed/desired. Issues or suggestions should ideally be sent =
also to ietf-action@ietf.org, which goes to the Secretariat IT team.=20

I do see the bluesheets online in the proceedings at the link that was =
references earlier ( =
http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/interim/2015/02/04/trill/proceedings.html)=
. They can be found directly below the Meeting Slides section, which is =
also where they are found in the main IETF proceedings.=20

I'm a bit confused by that claim.

When a mediator changes the From field, so that DMARC succeeds, the
recipient is given /less/ useful information for the MUA to process.

Arguably, at that point, it /is/ spoofing. The user sees that it is
from the original author, but the associated address is /not/ the author's.

In the broadest terms, the From field hack that folk claim to like is
merely telling spammers how to bypass DMARC...

When a draft-ietf-....-00 draft is submitted, and often when a
draft-iab-...-00 or draft-irtf-...-00 draft is submitted, it's a
WG/IAB/RG-accepted revision of a previous individual submission.

There is a field in the datatracker database for this to be populated,
which allows various tools, including the datatracker and
tools.ietf.org/html/draft.... to provide proper linkage across versions.
(For example, the tools.ietf.org/html version will show you a pointer to
the previous individual submission and let you do a diff from the -00
against the individual submission as well.)

However, this ONLY works when that pointer is populated. Right now, it
almost always requires a manual poke at ietf-action or ietf-secretariat
to get the linkage fixed up.

I know of several documents recently added to the draft-iab track (that
were previously individual submissions) where the manual poke took
significant time.

I'd like to propose that, when the file being submitted is named
draft-ietf-...-00, draft-iab-...-00 or draft-irtf-...-00, another text
box becomes visible that lets the author fill in the previous individual
submission's filename. This information would be sent directly to the
proper address at the secretariat for verification, and then the link
can be added to the database by the secretariat.

Another additional enhancement would be tool support for the secretariat
to use make easier the verification that the individual submission
listed really is the previous version. (For example, show an iframe
displaying the tools.ietf.org version of the individual-submission
document and another iframe displaying the draft-i*-00 document, and a
button that can be clicked to add the pointer data to the database.)

Dear all,

I have not seen any reply to this one.
Since I provided this mailer to Carl, I'm wondering: is this the right one?

We're looking to likely leverage the pyang YANG validator and converter in python (https://code.google.com/p/pyang/) with a simple web ui. It will likely end up looking something like the venerable web interface to libsmi (https://www.ibr.cs.tu-bs.de/projects/libsmi/tools/).

Hi Benoit -

I think the reason you haven't seen any reply is that the original
message didn't make it to the list:
<https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/?qdr=a&start_date=&end_date=&email_list=&q=subject%3A%28online+yang+validation%29&as=1>

Henrik runs the tools.ietf.org servers. I think the place to start is
for you and Carl to get into a direct conversation with him.

No, things related to tools.ietf.org should go directly to me -- I may or may
not notice requests if they go to the mailing list.

As for the question: Sure, I can put up a service for this on tools.ietf.org.

Best regards,

We're looking to likely leverage the pyang YANG validator and converter in python (https://code.google.com/p/pyang/) with a simple web ui. It will likely end up looking something like the venerable web interface to libsmi (https://www.ibr.cs.tu-bs.de/projects/libsmi/tools/).

Hi,

  E.g. http://tools.ietf.org/list/ietf-privacy/ contains a directory
listing of `<message id>.eml` files with mailing list messages up to
mid-2012. For some lists like http://tools.ietf.org/list/tap/ I get a
`404` response, but Google Search still shows similar results. That
does not seem right.

Hey tools team,

I'm trying to add Mo Zanaty <mzanaty@cisco.com> as co-chair of CODEC.
http://datatracker.ietf.org/wg/codec/edit/

Mo tells me that he's created an account, but the "Chairs" box can't seem
to find him. Any ideas why this might be? Is there some propagation delay?

Thanks,

No, there's no propagation delay. However, Mo's email address is marked as
inactive. He should be able to set it as active on his profile page,
http://datatracker.ietf.org/accounts/profile/ (when logged in).

Hi Carlos,

Definitely so. The expansion has now moved to the main ietf mail server,
and the issue below is related to removing expansion @tools.ietf.org,
leaving that to the postfix program @ietf.org

That's the intention. Robert and I requested this from the secretariat
a couple of weeks ago, about the same time as I set up expansion for
the same addresses @ietf.org. Clearly it hasn't happened yet. I don't
know how to make postfix add that header; when I set up the Resent-To:
header for the draft-* alias expansion on tools.ietf.org, I did it using
exim. In other words, I can't offer advice to the secretariat in this
case.

As mentioned above, I'm Bcc:ing the secretariat, I'll also ping them on
Jabber.

Best regards,

	Henrik
