Directly to me would be good.

Apache died. Restarted. Investigating.

Hello,

in BESS we are starting to systematically ask for volunteers to shepherd
documents we last call.
But for them to be autonomous, and to also experiment the
tools/datatracker, I was wondering if rights could be given to them (in
the same way as for Secretaries, Delegates, ... in
datatracker.ietf.org/wg/wg-name/edit/) but which would only apply to the
document(s) that they shepherd.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I can't reproduce that here.

I just tried the current idnits (2.14.01) with your draft
draft-jennings-stir-rtcweb-identity-00.txt, and for me it says, quite
correctly,

=2E..

-- The document date (May 9, 2016) is 4 days in the past. Is this
     intentional?

=2E..

Are you running idnits locally? If so, which versions of gawk/awk/nawk
do you have, and on which OS are you running?

Please respond directly, not to the list.

Regards,

	Henrik

Considering:
        https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-6man-rfc2460bis/history/

can the tools be told that draft-ietf-6man-rfc2460bis replaces rfc2460 (via
draft-hinden-6man...) , such that a diff against the original is trivial to ask for?

It would indeed be a very useful feature to have.
I did try to add that draft-hinden replaces RFC2460, but I got "A draft =
can't replace an RFC".

We did plan for this situation though, so the first draft-hinden =
revision is an exact copy of xmlyfied RFC2460.

This should we give the complete set of changes:

The chairs can mark drafts as replacing one another in the datatracker, =
and then such a diff becomes available (I think).

Also, you can say:

https://www.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url1=rfc2460&url2=draft-ietf-6man-rfc2460bis-04

I found up by experimentation.
Turns out the diff I wanted to share isn't in -04, is just planned for -05 :-)

Hiya,

A previously inactive (with the tools) co-author on one of
my documents had to take over submission of a final version.
I asked him for any comments as a first time user of that.
He said:

"
While I'm writing about tools: The draft submission tool has a field
"replaces", which tripped me up because I assumed that what I was
uploading was replacing the earlier version. Apparently a draft does
not replace itself, or even an earlier version of itself... a few
words on the form ("earlier versions of the draft will be automatically
replaced and should not be listed here") or some logic in the form
handler to silently remove "replaces itself" indications would avoid
some confused "it says there's an error, but everything looks fine to
me" moments.
"

So I'm just passing that on to you. I can see what he means
though, our semantics for replaced-by is a bit special and
assumes some insider knowledge.

Cheers,
S.

I also had posted a note about this issue sometime back, but didn't post
a suggested fix.

I think the above is nicely simple and sufficient. It accommodates the
problem of overly-large list folders for daily use, while still
supplying the benefits of IMAP access to the older history of messages.

Turn off junk processing for your clients use of the IETF IMAP account.

But there's also a persistent error message due to no Inbox. I know
that folk know about this. I'm unclear why it can't be solved by
manually creating an empty inbox at the site.

If an email client does not permit use of IMAP in a mode that works
well with enterprise archives -- that is, message stores that the client
needs to treat as static and the responsibility of others -- there's
really nothing that can be done.
