> If you are an Emacs user, especially one who is familiar with/uses Org =
Mode, I think you'll like this.
>=20
> I've been working on an org mode exporter for writing RFCs. As it's =
now in MELPA (package: ox-rfc) I figured it was a good time to announce =
it's availability. Basically you write your RFC in Org Mode and export =
it to XML. The back-end supports exporting to XML (for manual xml2rfc), =
but also supports exporting to text, HTML, or PDF, including directly =
into a buffer for easy previewing.
>=20
> Highlights:
> - Powerful Org Mode

> - Definition Lists (term + definition)
> - Tables

examples)
>=20
> In particular YANG embedding is pretty neat. There's no need for =
separate files and tree generation (and example validation) can be =
automated from the embedded text.

directory).

Is there a brief answer to the question of what advantage this has over
Markdown, which has its own Emacs mode?

I noticed that in the last few days, messages such as Gen-ART reviews generated by the tracker have From: fields like "John Doe via Datatracker <noreply@ietf.org>".

This means that Reply won't work at all and Reply All will not include a direct copy to the reviewer (or other message originator).

This change wasn't announced, as far as I know. It's a bug as far as I'm concerned.

If the reason for this is that some mail systems treat the genuine sender's address as a forgery, OK, but then please generate a Cc: field for the original sender's address, so that at least Reply All will do the right thing.

If that isn't the reason, I believe this change should be reversed.

Regards
   Brian Carpenter

The next datatracker release, which I hope to make tomorrow, will have
the Reply-To: header field set appropriately, using the reviewer or
AD email address which previously was used for the From: field. =20

I believe this will make Reply and Reply All work as before, while still
avoiding the troubles we've seen from using a From: address that may
look like a forgery.

Understood. Yes, this was the reason for the original change. I hope
inclusion of the Reply-To: field will make this work better.

Regards,

	Henrik

May I suggest stopping changing the body of the email messages (by adding=
a footer). That way DKIM signatures will work, and the email will indeed=
not be defined being forgery which in fact they are as long as the body =
is changed.

That is a different issue (that will hopefully be solved by ARC, which
we hope to deploy soon).

Brian is talking about a recent change away from a practice where
when a reviewer would enter his review into the datatracker, it would
originate a mail purporting to be from <reviewer@reviewers.domain>,
and send that out from the server mail.ietf.org, which is not mentioned
in the SPF record of reviewers.domain.

Since this was becoming increasingly troublesome, as more and more
domains were adopting stricter SPF settings, we've stopped sending
mail purporting to be sent by <reviewer@reviewers.domain>, and are
now sending from <noreply@ietf.org>, but we missed adding a Reply-To:
header field that would make replies work as before.

Regards,

	Henrik

By the way, this dovetails well into a conversation we had earlier about
responses to IESG ballots being attached to the ballots, so that the
entire conversation ends up in the ballot. This would greatly simplify
the task of IESG members attempting to validate whether review comments
received responses (and what those responses were). Please consider
changing <noreply@ietf.org> to instead be <unique-token@ietf.org>, and
make mail sent to <unique-token@ietf.org> turn into a comment which is
then appended to whatever data structure originated the initial email.

Yees, but much more complex, and with a forced return through the
ietf server, which all seems against KISS.

Hello,

I tried to set a "Replaces" during I-D submission [1]. The
datatracker sent a notification with the following message: "This
document now replaces None instead of None". That message is
confusing given that the datatracker displayed the name of the I-D
which the new I-D attempted to replace.

Regards,
S. Moonesamy

Thanks for the explanation. I attempted a "Replaces" for
draft-klensin-recall-rev-00. Does the datatracker cater for that
given that the two drafts are not WG documents?
