Hi all,

It looks like the recent work on refactoring review objects made it harder
to find who did a given review. E.g., at
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/review-ietf-netconf-restconf-notif-13-secdir-lc-malhotra-2019-04-11/
there is no "Reviewer name" field, so I either need to look at the
"Completed reviews" section that includes a line for the current review
object or look in the name/title of the oject/page and hope that the
reviewer's surname is in my wetware lookup table.

Not a huge deal, but I figured it might be worth noting.

Thanks,

Ben

Definitely. I've created and applied a patch which adds Review Assignmen=
t
information to the review document pages, and tweaked the display to matc=
h
other document status pages.

Please have a look and see if this improves things for you.

Indeed, it looks more like what I remember (i.e., good), now -- thank you
all for the quick fix!

Carsten,

The version of kramdown at https://xml2rfc.tools.ietf.org/experimental.html
seems to still be using bibxml2 rather than bibxml6 for IEEE references.
For example, I used {{?IEEE.802.1QCD_2015}} and got the error message:

.refcache/reference.IEEE.802.1QCD_2015.xml: fetching
*** 404 Not Found while fetching
https://xml2rfc.tools.ietf.org/public/rfc/bibxml2/reference.IEEE.802.1QCD_2=
015.xml
*** No such file or directory @ rb_sysopen -
.refcache/reference.IEEE.802.1QCD_2015.xml for ${fn}

The reference is in bibxml6, see
https://xml2rfc.tools.ietf.org/public/rfc/bibxml6/reference.IEEE.802.1QCD_2=
015.xml
.

Thanks,
Andy

We have a comment on a document asking us to make the reference to BCP38
explicit. Right now we have:

In particular, the RPL root SHOULD do BCP38 (<xref
target="RFC2827" />) processing on the source addresses of all IP

and:
     <?rfc include="reference.RFC.2827" ?>

We tried to do:
     <?rfc include="reference.BCP.38" ?>

but this does not work. Not such file exists. Is there some other way to
get this right?

Just paste the contents of
<https://xml2rfc.tools.ietf.org/public/rfc/bibxml/reference.RFC.2827.xml>
into your document and change xref/target and reference/anchor to "BCP38".

Umm. I think you'll have to construct the <reference> entry yourself, fo=
r
now. Eventually, we should be able to build reference BCP entries for al=
l
BCPs, using <referencegroup> where necessary; but that will only work wit=
h
vocabulary v3. I suspect the lack of <referencegroup> is what's behind n=
o
autogenerated BCP entries.

Regards,

	Henrik

With kramdown-rfc, you get to choose the label:

normative:
  BCP38: RFC2827

(You need to set
stand_alone: true
to make this work in the current version of kramdown-rfc, but you=E2=80=99=
ll want that anyway.)

So, then I reference {{BCP38}}?

This document predates kramdown... so it's pre XML :-(
It should have been done already.

Yes.

I don=E2=80=99t think so=E2=80=A6
(My records say useofrplinfo is from 2015. =20
Kramdown-rfc was first published as a gem in Jan 2011.

I can help with upconverting XML to markdown, by the way.

Talking about useofrplinfo, I think one could say that=E2=80=A6
(RFC 6550 should never have been published without that information.)

I just tried to work around a problem in kramdown-rfc=E2=80=99s =
=E2=80=9Cstand_alone: false=E2=80=9D mode (this is where kramdown-rfc =
doesn=E2=80=99t do the reference handling by itself but instead =
generates entity declarations like it were 1986).

I noticed that

=
https://xml2rfc.tools.ietf.org/public/rfc/bibxml7/reference.DOI.10.1145_12=
82427.1282421.xml?anchor=3Dfoo

generates

<reference anchor=3D"FOO">

Hmm, ID/IDREF are case-sensitive in XML, so this doesn=E2=80=99t quite =
work for an <xref target=3D=E2=80=9Cfoo=E2=80=9D/>.
=E2=9E=94 bug1

Independent of what anchor I specify, xml2rfc creates a cache file =
called

reference.DOI.10.1145_1282427.1282421.xml

So if I have another document that does=20

=
https://xml2rfc.tools.ietf.org/public/rfc/bibxml7/reference.DOI.10.1145_12=
82427.1282421.xml?anchor=3Dbar

Xml2rfc still uses the cache entry with=20

<reference anchor=3D=E2=80=9CFOO">

=E2=9E=94 bug2

Bug 1 actually has another interesting facet:

=
https://xml2rfc.tools.ietf.org/public/rfc/bibxml7/reference.DOI.10.1145_12=
82427.1282421.xml?anchor=3DDOI.10.1145_637201.637236

creates

<reference anchor=3D=E2=80=98DOI101145_637201637236' >

Whoa, what happened to my dots?

=E2=9E=94 bug1b

So can we make anchor normalization on the bibxml server less =
aggressive?
No upcasing (bug1), no removal of valid ID/IDREF characters (bug1b).

Also, we=E2=80=99d need to fix the caching in xml2rfc (bug2).
(Kramdown-rfc=E2=80=99s [1.2.12, unreleased] cache file names for URLs =
with anchors currently look like this:
reference.DOI.10.1145_1282427.1282421--anchor=3Dfoo.xml
)

Thanks =E2=80=94 that is the version for people who need to add specific =
interims to their calendar, and

https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/upcoming.ics?filters=3Dcore

is for people who want them all in one swoop (or even subscribe to =
them). Maybe you could add the latter link to the former page =
(=E2=80=9CCalendar entries for all upcoming meetings=E2=80=9D)?

It's there.
It's very useful to know when they all are to avoid conflicts.
An annoyance is that the interim meeting ics also includes a bunch of actual
in-person meeting details. It's an annoyance once you start populating your
meeting week schedule, and you turn off the interim meeting view, and then
forget to turn it back on :-)

This is easy...
The calendar includes a pointer to your agenda.

Your agenda had contain to the webex/etc. info, right? So just upload the
info there. This also puts the webex/etc. info squarely under the control of
the chairs.

LPwan interim is starting in 3 minutes, and I see it point to
   https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/interim-2019-lpwan-07/materials/agenda-interim-2019-lpwan-07-lpwan-01

and if you look there, you see the webex URL.

LC: agreed. This is useful to have all links in the same place. But My prop=
osal was to automate creation of the interim/virtual meeting + creation of =
the webex, i.e. to *generate* the webex link when on the meeting request fo=
rm.

LC: my ideal workflow would be to automatically generate the meeting reques=
t from the final choice in the doodle poll. The only "manual" input would t=
hen be the agenda content.

So, shouldn't the attachment point to the agenda?
That way, you get the layer of indirection, which lets the chairs actually
make sure the link is correct.

Until the IETF is paying for (and getting via SLA) support from Webex, with
some serious commitment to full-functionality cross-platform, I'd rather that
we did no further integration with webex, API or not.
At this point, Cisco donates Webex to us, and we get no SLA. We can't report bugs.

    > LC: my ideal workflow would be to automatically generate the meeting

That would also be cool :-)
But it would be another proprietary integration.

I would volunteer for do a short demo for WG chairs of using Doodle better.
Many WG chairs are not aware of how it integrates with calendars, and so
often do not "pick" the meeting in doodle. (That clears up tentative values).
And I would support having doodle integration, if IETF were to become a
"business user" of doodle... That would require an RFP, etc.

Multicasting this information would of course be more efficient.

While there still is some time to maybe roll out some improvements:

What can be done about the stability of Etherpad for note taking and =
other collaborative work during the next IETF (and interims)?

Should we move to a different code base (my students like =
hackmd/CodiMD)?
Anything on the operational side that can be done?

Hi Carsten,

The etherpad server was transitioned to a secretariat server a couple of
weeks before IETF 104. The next planned change is to install release 1.8=
,
to which Ray Bellis has contributed a major refactoring:

https://blog.etherpad.org/2019/03/18/updating-etherpad-for-modern-javascr=
ipt/

It's still under testing, but should hopefully come in soon, and bring mu=
ch
improved stability.

Best regards,

	Henrik

Hi Henrik,

Thank you!

So we will wait for 1.8 and then do some stress testing, hopefully well =
before IETF 105.
Is there a place where the update to the new release will be announced?
