If it is a separate IP network which doesn't have connectivity to what I
would call Internet (capital 'I'), then you _have_ to have your own DNS
hierarchy, with private root servers and the whole nine yards. If it has
connectivity with the Internet, then you always have the same issues with
what you call "fraud" regardless if you use your own "private DNS" or not.

Whether this is a real issue or not for getting the functionality you want
to get, I don't know. You should though look at the whole picture, and not
at the DNS lookup service by itself.

Hi Kevin:

Thanks for the article on DDOS. As the article points out, there are ways
to reduce the impact of DDOS attacks. In Enum, one of those ways is with a
dynamic interconnected registry system, as we have proposed. We are working
on a document to fully describe how the effects of DDOS can be virtually
(almost) eliminated by using the interconnected registry approach. Then, if
you use this in conjunction with other DDOS counter measures; the impact
will be reduced to marginal.

If anyone would like a copy our report: "Fighting DDOS Attacks in Enum Using
a Multiple Registry Approach"; just email your request to
enum.ddos.report@iito.org and it will be sent to you when it is publicly
available.

Have a Great Day!

Mark

    hi everybody:
This is my first time in ENUM WG discussion.
I search for ENUM API or Application , but 404 not found ,
Somebody can tell me where I can get it ?

I setup my BIND for NAPTR RR, But no applicaion to use it ,
It's useful for enum to combine E.164 with DNS ,
And I am a TWNIC enginner , it's my responibility.
In taiwan , only few people know it , BUT no one test !
We are NIC , have to know it about DNS,

SO, may someone can tell me ? please
