A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Locator/ID Separation Protocol WG of the IETF.

Title : LISP L2/L3 EID Mobility Using a Unified Control Plane
        Authors : Marc Portoles Comeras
                          Vrushali Ashtaputre
                          Victor Moreno
                          Fabio Maino
                          Dino Farinacci

	Pages : 23
	Date : 2018-05-14

Abstract:
The LISP control plane offers the flexibility to support multiple
overlay flavors simultaneously. This document specifies how LISP can
be used to provide control-plane support to deploy a unified L2 and
L3 overlay solution, as well as analyzing possible deployment options
   and models.

Luigi notied that there is one more document that our PS set depends on.
RFC 6834: Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) Map-Versioning

Since we will need to move this to PS, the rules prohibit us from simply
doing a downref.

As such, unless our AD tells us we can't expedite this, the plan is:

Luigi will prepare draft-iannone-lisp-rfc6834bis.

As soon as he posts it, I will issue a 4 week joint adoption and last
call. We think this one is dead simple and as such there will be no
problems with it.

-- We will need to see strong support from the working group for
advancing it.
-- small errors can be fixed as part of this
-- If someone has problems with our doing this, they can object and
we will slow it all down. In particular, if there turn out to be hard
spots where it is not technically simple, then we have to slow down and
do it right.

Assuming it completes the 4 week call without issues, Luigi will issue
any necessary revisions, I will do a shepherd writeup, and we will add
it to the stack of things being advanced.

If someone sees a problem with this plan, please speak up.
Yours,
Joel

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Locator/ID Separation Protocol WG of the IETF.

Title : LISP Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
        Authors : Victor Moreno
                          Dino Farinacci
	Filename : draft-ietf-lisp-vpn-02.txt
	Pages : 16
	Date : 2018-05-16

Abstract:
This document describes the use of the Locator/ID Separation Protocol
(LISP) to create Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). LISP is used to
provide segmentation in both the LISP data plane and control plane.
These VPNs can be created over the top of the Internet or over
private transport networks, and can be implemented by Enterprises or
Service Providers. The goal of these VPNs is to leverage the
characteristics of LISP - routing scalability, simply expressed
Ingress site TE Policy, IP Address Family traversal, and mobility, in
ways that provide value to network operators.

This starts a 4 week implicit adoption call and explicit last call for
the LISP Map Versioning draft revision with the purpose of moving this
work onto the standards track.

Please read the draft.
And then speak up as to whether you agree or disagree with us sending
this document to our AD for IETF LC and IESG review as a Proposed
Standard RFC.

We will allow 4 weeks for this call, ending on Sunday, June 17.

Thank you,
Joel

PS: I will try to find a way to mark this suitably in the data tracker,
but I suspect it does not have a state to reflect this.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.

Title : Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP)
Map-Versioning
         Authors : Luigi Iannone
                           Damien Saucez
                           Olivier Bonaventure
	Filename : draft-iannone-6834bis-00.txt
	Pages : 19
	Date : 2018-05-20

Abstract:
This document describes the LISP (Locator/ID Separation Protocol)
Map-Versioning mechanism, which provides in-packet information about
Endpoint ID to Routing Locator (EID-to-RLOC) mappings used to
encapsulate LISP data packets. The proposed approach is based on
associating a version number to EID-to-RLOC mappings and the
transport of such a version number in the LISP-specific header of
LISP-encapsulated packets. LISP Map-Versioning is particularly
useful to inform communicating Ingress Tunnel Routers (ITRs) and
Egress Tunnel Routers (ETRs) about modifications of the mappings used
to encapsulate packets. The mechanism is optional and transparent to
implementations not supporting this feature, since in the LISP-
specific header and in the Map Records, bits used for Map-Versioning
can be safely ignored by ITRs and ETRs that do not support or do not
    want to use the mechanism.

Yeah, if we wanted to take longer we could put in a filename change.
But it doesn't actually matter. (usually, we need the name right so
folks can find the document. I don't think that is a problem in this
case.) I will do what is needed to attach it to the LISP WG page.

Yours,
Joel

I went again through RFC6834 while I was reviewing RFC6830/33bis. I think
it can be sent to the AD.

Thanks,
Alberto

The LISP WG has placed draft-iannone-6834bis in state
In WG Last Call (entered by Joel Halpern)

The document is available at
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-iannone-6834bis/

Comment:
A small delta to bring RFC 6834 to proposed Standards. Going directly to WG
last call to avoid slowing down other work, and because it is so small.
Please do speak up, either with support or objection.
