Hi,

I've submitted a first version for using DANE to associate Instant Message OTR public keys with email addresses.

Note that Peter Saint-Andre and I are also working on writing up the OTR specification itself.

Paul

A new version of I-D, draft-wouters-dane-otrfp-00.txt
has been successfully submitted by Paul Wouters and posted to the
IETF repository.

Filename: draft-wouters-dane-otrfp

Htmlized: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-wouters-dane-otrfp-00

Abstract:
The Off-the-Record (OTR) protocol exchanges public keys in-band.
This document describes how to use DANE to securely associate an
Instant Message user identified by their email address with an OTR
public key. This association helps to authenticate users and protect
   against MITM attacks.

Hi,

I've submitted a draft to associate an PGP public key with an email address using DANE.

As the openpgp WG closed down, I'm not sure if I should also send this announcement to another IETF mailing list.

Title: A Simple Secure Addressing Scheme for IPv6 AutoConfiguration =
(SSAS)

Number of pages: 19

Diff: =
http://www.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url2=3Ddraft-rafiee-6man-ssas-05

Abstract:
The default method for IPv6 address generation uses an
Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) assigned by the IEEE
Standards Association and an Extension Identifier assigned to the
   hardware manufacturer [1] (section 2.5.1 RFC-4291) [RFC4291]. This
fact thus means that a node will always have the same Interface ID
(IID) whenever it connects to a new network. Because the node's IP
address does not change, the node will be vulnerable to privacy
related attacks. Currently this problem is addressed by the use of
two mechanisms that do not make use of the MAC address, or other
unique values that can be used for ID generation, for randomizing the
IID; Cryptographically Generated Addresses (CGA) [RFC3972] and
Privacy Extension [RFC4941]. The problem with the former approach is
the computational cost involved for the IID generation and in the
verification process. The problem with the latter approach is that it
lacks necessary security mechanisms and provides the node with only
partial protection against privacy related attacks. This document
proposes the use of a new algorithm for use in the generation of the
IID while, at the same time, securing the node against some types of
attack, like IP spoofing. These attacks are prevented by the addition
of a signature to messages sent over the network and by finding a
binding with the nodes' IP address and its public key. The use of
theResource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI), introduced in this
document, is based on the centralized version explained in RFC 6494
   and RFC 6495.

                                                                         =

NIST is pleased to announce the approval of */FIPS 186-4, the Digital
Signature Standard/*. This Standard specifies three techniques for the
generation and verification of digital signatures that can be used for
the protection of data: DSA, ECDSA and RSA. This revision includes a
clarification of terms, a reduction of restrictions on the use of random
number generators and the retention and use of prime number generation
seeds, a correction of wording and typographical errors, and further
aligns the FIPS with Key Cryptography Standard (PKCS) #1.

FIPS 186-4 is available at http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/PubsFIPS.html.

In Monday's CoRE meeting (13-15), we have reserved 50 minutes to talk =
about authorization/access control in the CoRE environment:

http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/87/agenda/agenda-87-core
(document references are in there.)

If you are interested in authorization, in particular with respect to =
resource-oriented Web transfer protocols, and maybe want to help us not =
inherit some of the problems that the HTTP ecosystem has with =
authorization, you may want to join us on Monday. We want to do this =
right.

Hi,

I would like to know whether you are available in IETF to meet and discuss
about SSAS (http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-rafiee-6man-ssas ). I created
some slides for 6man however I am in "if the time permits" so that I am not
sure I will be given a time slot to present it. Also if I have time slot,
there is not much time for discussion. We think it is so important to
clarify the purpose . You can see brief information about this draft here:

http://tools.ietf.org/agenda/87/slides/slides-87-6man-6.pdf

thanks,

Best,

Hosnieh

The JOSE wg met on Tuesday 30 July 2013 at 13:00 CEST.

Since the last IETF, the wg charter has been updated, and a number of
interim meetings have been held including a face to face and three
conference calls. The use cases document has cleared WGLC and is being
submitted to the IESG shortly. The four core documents (JWA, JWE, JWK,
JWS) have all been updated. The meeting time on Tuesday was spent
exclusively on addressing remaining open issues with the four core
documents. The plan is to close remaining issues in the near future and
proceed to WGLC.

Hiya,

I've booked the IESG breakout room ("chess" floor 2) for 2000
tonight for a discussion with Tor folks about security and privacy
and whether IETF participants can help with that. Jacob Appelbaum
and Linus Nordberg from the Tor Project will be there so if you're
interested please head that way.

Sorry about the late notice, but we just found out yesterday that
we could set this up.

Cheers,
Stephen.

The OAuth working group met on Wednesday 31 July 2013 at 9:00 CEST.

The meeting time was largely spent on discussing a working group item, =
called "Dynamic Client Registration", which allows an OAuth client to =
update and retrieve initial configuration parameters and keying material =
from an OAuth authorization servers. While a lot of time has been spent =
discussing the current working group document (see =
draft-ietf-oauth-dyn-reg) already since the last IETF meeting but =
various questions surfaces, including an alternative solution proposal, =
and the need to interact with other groups/SDOs (who are potential =
consumers of the developed technology).=20

Besides the challenges in the dynamic client registration work the group =
is making progress on other chartered items. The OAuth Token Revocation =
document was recently completed and is currently in the RFC Editor =
Queue, the WGLC for three assertion documents has been started, and the =
WGLC of the JSON Web Token (JWT) is planned to be started soon (since =
the JOSE working group, on which this work depends, is progressing =
nicely).=20

To accelerate the work design teams will be created for these two areas =
of work: =20
  * the "Mac Token" (draft-ietf-oauth-v2-http-mac) + the HOTK document =
(draft-tschofenig-oauth-hotk), and=20
  * the dynamic client registration.=20

At the end of the meeting we also discussed future work and various =
items were proposed, including a new security extension =
(draft-sakimura-oauth-tcse), OAuth Token Introspection =
(draft-richer-oauth-introspection), JSON Metadata for OAuth Responses =
(draft-sakimura-oauth-meta), and User Authentication for Client =
(draft-hunt-oauth-v2-user-a4c).=20

And of course I missed the fact that the plenary is
scheduled until 2010, so this might start a few
minutes late if the plenary runs to time.

Hi

The HTTP-Auth met today, Wednesday at 13:00 for 2 hours.

The standard-track documents for updating Basic and Digest authentication a=
re progressing nicely with little contention. They should be done in a few =
months.

Of the four experimental protocols, one is at version -01 and has received =
a moderate amount of discussion, two are at version -00 and have received n=
o discussion from this group, and one has yet to be submitted.

The NEA working group did not meet at IETF 87.

We have completed all our work. Our last draft
is in the RFC Editor's queue waiting for a
normative reference. We expect to close soon.

The NEA protocols will probably be used in
the new SACM WG's efforts.

Thanks,

Steve

The IPsecME WG met on Tuesday. We discussed IKE fragmentation (the group
recently moved from a TCP-based solution to explicit IKE-level
fragmentation). We recently completed work on the Auto-Discovery VPN
problem statement, and most of the rest of the meeting revolved around
possible solutions to this problem. In the next few months - before the
next face to face - we expect to do intensive work on evaluating
potential solutions against the problem statement, and following that,
selecting a single solution to publish.

Since the last meeting, RFC 6989 was published; this document updates
IKEv2 by adding a few security checks for elliptic-curve implementations
which are slowly becoming more common.
