Not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but the ID tracker entry
https://datatracker.ietf.org/idtracker/draft-despres-6rd/
currently shows

a) " IESG Discussion: No IESG evaluation record"
and
b) That at least 2 ADs have recorded 'no objection'

Since this draft is an RFC Editor submission, maybe this is
intentional???

I'm not totally sure if it's a bug or a feature (I'm leaning towards
"bug"), but the explanation isn't being an RFC Editor submission.

The tracker doesn't show the IESG evaluation record before the
responsible AD has issued the ballot (=3Dwritten the ballot writeup and
clicked "Issue this ballot" in IESG view).

Before the ballot is issued, nobody except the responsible AD is
supposed to get to the ballot (the public page says "No IESG
evaluation record", and there's no "Open Web Ballot" link in the=20
IESG view or IESG agenda page).

However, there's *one* place (in IESG-only view) where the code=20
doesn't check the "ballot_issued" flag, and other ADs can get to=20
the ballot (and update their positions) before they're supposed to.

This bug has caused lot of confusion earlier (since even ADs can't
find the ballot via the normal means; e.g. via the IESG agenda page),
so I'll try to get it fixed.

(This would probably mean checking the "ballot_issued" flag in the one
page that currently doesn't check it, and warning ADs if they attempt
to place a document on the agenda without issuing the ballot.)

Best regards,
Pasi=

Oh!

I'm not sure whether that was the case while I was an AD;
but I agree that it's a bug, and it did always annoy me when
a draft appeared on the agenda without the ballot being
issued. I used to nag other ADs about it regularly :-)

Thanks

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Seems like some tool picked up the wrong authors from this draft
(those in the example, not in the Authors' Addresses section).

Regards, Martin.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.

Title : Using non-ASCII Characters in RFCs
	Author(s) : X. Faltstrom, et al.
	Filename : draft-hoffman-utf8-rfcs-05.txt
	Pages : 8
	Date : 2009-04-14

This document specifies a change to the IETF process in which
Internet Drafts and RFCs are allowed to contain non-ASCII characters.
The proposed change is to change the encoding of Internet Drafts and
RFCs to UTF-8 when non-ASCII characters are needed.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-hoffman-utf8-rfcs-05.txt

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP at:
ftp://ftp.ietf.org/internet-drafts/

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

Hi.

Not sure who to send this to, so this list gets nominated:

There is a bug in the automatic diff mechanism. The diff pointed to, below,
says there are no changes. Whereas, running rfcdiff on:

    <http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-dkim-overview-10.txt>
vs.
    <http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-dkim-overview-11.txt>

produces a lengthy set of differences.

Hi,

I added the "Diff from previous version" link to the new version
notification emails in the San Francisco tools code sprint.
The short URL in the email works the same way as:

http://tools.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url1=3Dhttp://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-dk=
im-overview-10.txt&url2=3Dhttp://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-dkim-overview=
-11.txt

which doesn't work until the tools.ietf.org server has rsync'd the new
draft (30 minutes on average, I think). Until the server has the new
draft, it says "The files are identical", which is clearly wrong.

I'll try to come up with a fix in a week or two (probably something
along the lines "check if we have this version; if we don't, use
URL pointing to www.ietf.org instead")....

Best regards,
Pasi

Right. Should be fixed now. The diff service will try to retrieve
the desired version locally, and if that fails, will try the master
repository, and if that fails will pop up an error message, instead
of falling back to the latest available version when a document can't
be found.

Should be no need for that workaround now. Hopefully.

By the way, I really appreciate having this feature added to the service.

Circulating a diff to the working group has become pretty much standard fare in
the efforts I've been involved in.

While the steps for doing it manually, using rfcdiff, aren't onerous, having it
be automatically available is a nice win.

I think this is an artifact of an earlier version of the draft having been gotten wrong. It really doesn't matter; the draft is correct.

How do the aliases for new working groups get set up? For example,
sip-chairs@tools.ietf.org works just fine, but the corresponding aliases
for sipcore-chairs@... and dispatch-chairs@... don't appear to be
working yet. The "tools.ietf.org" domain on these aliases would suggest
that this is a tools issue (instead of an ietf-action issue). If there's
somewhere more appropriate to report this, let me know...

Not sure if I should mention this here, or if there is a better place,
but fwiw, ippm had a draft expire (draft-ietf-ippm-multimetrics-09), a
new version was put in place a few days later (last week), and

<http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ippm-multimetrics-10.txt>
is correct.

however,
<http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-ippm-multimetrics-10>
gives tombstone text

the rest of the links appear to be correct (nits, text/plain, diff...)

I just checked the link on all the tools servers, and they all seem
to be correct now. Do you still get the tombstone?

Yes, it is correct now. Emile also updated to version 11 just after I
sent my note, so I do not know if that triggered a refresh.

Thanks for looking,

[ I sent this a few weeks back. Recently checking the archives, I
found it never got through -- I suspect because of the attachment.
Trying again... ]

I've been silly enough to volunteer to moderate/own several IETF
mailing lists.

Each one has different login credentials for administration (e.g.,
"oauth-administrator", "hybi-administrator"). Somehow, the list
interface remembers one of them, and doesn't allow me to change my
identity when logging in (see screenshot, and note that I'm trying to
log into the hybi list).

[ picture at: <http://www.mnot.net/test/ietf-mail-mgr.png> ]

As you can see, it has disabled the 'Login name' text input.

For other lists where I share duties with others, the credentials are
shared manually between multiple users.

Requests -

1) At a minimum, the text input needs to be enabled, so another
identity can be entered. Currently, I have to clear my cookies (!) to
log in to administer another list, or use another browser. I'm running
out of browsers...

2) Ideally, logins should be tied to people, not 'foo-Administrator',
and one identity should be able to manage several lists.

Thanks,

--

Hi Mark,

Hmm, I wonder if the browser makes a difference here?

I also administer several lists (with different usernames/passwords),
and with Firefox 3, they seem to work fine.

If I go to the "secdir" admin page, the login name is
"secdir-Administrator" (and the browser adds the right password for
secdir); if I go to the "saag" admin page, the login name is
"saag-Administrator" (and the browser picks the right password).
And if I attempt going to the "hybi" admin page, the login name is
"hybi-Administrator" (but I don't know the password, of course).

The "Login name" text input is indeed disabled, but it doesn't matter
because it has the right value in all cases. I looked at the Mailman
code/template that produces this page, and it seems the server always
sends the same list name in the page title ("<listname> Moderator
Authentication") and in the input tag ("<listname>-Administrator"),
and it doesn't seem to depend on any cookies. So if they're different
(like in your screen shot), either I'm misreading the code, or it's
something your browser does?

Best regards,
Pasi

There are several people who made that 'mistake' ;)

I suggest using Firefox (3.x++) and optionally "Secure Login" available
from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/4429
That fills in passwords even easier (hit ctrl-n) than the default
firefox and makes password boxes yellow-outlined so that you can
recognize them easily.

Greets,
 Jeroen
