Hello, all =97

As was discussed in the AVTExt session on Thursday, we are trying to determ=
ine the level of interest in the RTCP Splicing Notification work, to determ=
ine whether it should become an AVTExt working group item.

Our concern is that the group=92s usual attendees (especially at the in-per=
son meetings) don=92t have much overlap with this work=92s constituency, an=
d we don=92t have much visibility into the community that would implement o=
r deploy this mechanism.

Thus, we are making the following request: if you, or your company or organ=
ization, would be interested in this work =97 specifically, a standardized =
RTP/RTCP-level indication of the time when content splicing should occur in=
a stream of multimedia content =97 please let us know by e-mail on the IET=
F AVTExt mailing list (avtext@ietf.org<mailto:avtext@ietf.org>) by Friday, =
March 21st (two weeks from today).

Please indicate whether: you would implement the mechanism; you would deplo=
y this mechanism; and/or whether you would be able to help by reviewing and=
 commenting on proposed solutions.

Conversely, of course, if you think the AVTExt group should *not* work on a=
solution for splicing notification at this time, please let us know that a=
s well.

It is known that there are existing proprietary mechanisms to solve this pr=
oblem at other levels, notably ones based on information carried in MPEG 2 =
Transport Streams.

Since, as I said, this group doesn=92t have much visibility into the commun=
ities that would make use of this work, please feel free to forward this re=
quest anyplace you feel would be relevant.

Thank you!

Jonathan Lennox
AVTExt Working Group Chair

Hi all,

=20

I have read the draft and think it is interesting and ready for =
adoption. I
would be happy to review it.

=D6=F7=CC=E2: [avtext] Call for interest in RTP/RTCP Splicing =
Notification

=20

Hello, all =A1=AA=20

=20

As was discussed in the AVTExt session on Thursday, we are trying to
determine the level of interest in the RTCP Splicing Notification work, =
to
determine whether it should become an AVTExt working group item.

=20

Our concern is that the group=A1=AFs usual attendees (especially at the
in-person meetings) don=A1=AFt have much overlap with this work=A1=AFs =
constituency,
and we don=A1=AFt have much visibility into the community that would =
implement
or deploy this mechanism.

=20

Thus, we are making the following request: if you, or your company or
organization, would be interested in this work =A1=AA specifically, a
standardized RTP/RTCP-level indication of the time when content splicing
should occur in a stream of multimedia content =A1=AA please let us know =
by
e-mail on the IETF AVTExt mailing list (avtext@ietf.org) by Friday, =
March
21st (two weeks from today).

=20

Please indicate whether: you would implement the mechanism; you would =
deploy
this mechanism; and/or whether you would be able to help by reviewing =
and
commenting on proposed solutions.

=20

Conversely, of course, if you think the AVTExt group should *not* work =
on a
solution for splicing notification at this time, please let us know that =
as
well.

=20

It is known that there are existing proprietary mechanisms to solve this
problem at other levels, notably ones based on information carried in =
MPEG 2
Transport Streams.

=20

Since, as I said, this group doesn=A1=AFt have much visibility into the
communities that would make use of this work, please feel free to =
forward
this request anyplace you feel would be relevant.

=20

Thank you!

=20

Jonathan Lennox

AVTExt Working Group Chair

Hi,

Currently Section 2.1.10. defines "Packet Stream". I think this is
sufficient terminology within the context of the grouping taxonomy
document. However, I have noticed that when discussing this, I commonly
have to prefix it with RTP to say "RTP packet stream" for it to make sense.

Thus, I wonder if this prefixing with "RTP" should be included in the
document to ensure that it is an official term?

Cheers

Magnus Westerlund

This was also a comment recently raised by Paul Jones, so I think it makes =
sense to make that change throughout the document.

Cheers,

Gonzalo
