Hi,

Did you try searching the web for "VLAN Manager"?

Because there may be differences in the VLAN configuration requirements
of various vendors, that functionality is typically available in tools
from the vendor of the equipment that has the VLAN functionality. So you
should try contacting the equipment vendor. I know VLAN Manager tools
are available from Enterasys, Nortel, 3Com, Cisco, Fore, Foundry,
Alcatel, Extreme, Avaya and others.

Management platforms such as HPOV and Spectrum offer vendor-neutral VLAN
monitoring and management, as much as they can given vendor variations.

A number of special-purpose tools for VLAN Management are also
available. Look at Bradford Software, for example.

You might also want to check the web foe open source tools that do VLAN
management.

I recommend that you try to locate tools that support the IEEE 802.1Q
standard for VLANs and use the SNMP mib in RFC2674 to manage the
devices.

Hope this helps,
dbh

Subject: RE: [Bridge-mib] Reading Associated Station (to an AP) Mac Address

Both the AP-1000 and the AP-2000 do have a Bridge learn table, which can be
read via the standard Bridge MIB. In this table, all MAC addresses listed
for interface 2 and 3 are units in the association tables of the respective
wireless interfaces. Note that on the wireless interface, no learntabel
time-out is implemented.

The AP-1000, (from version 3.84 and above if I remember correctly) does
also has a MIB function to list the associated stations with some statistical
information like frames received and running average of the SNR. This is
defined in a private MIB. If you like to play with this information,
please let me know and I can forward you that MIB definition.

Hi,

My task is as following:-

I have a Orinoco AP-1000 and AP-2000.

How Can I read OIDs which shows a list of MAC address of associated station
to the AP using net-snmp software?.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Blanca.

Another way to side step it is to rename the TCs in my document
I can name them
  VlanIdentifier
  VlanIdentifierOrAny
  VlanIdentifierOrNone

A quick check seems to indicate they have not yet been used in
IETF MIB modules.

And with my suggested approach above we can leave 2674 alone till
it needs to be opened for other reasons.

Mark, I have not seen anyone react to this as a option that they
wanted, so for now I am not going to include it.
It can of course always be added later if a need arises.

By the way, what woyuld you call/name that TC?

Hi Bert,

Thanks for your reply.

I think I'd call a TC with a value range of Integer32 { 0 | 1..4094 |
4095 } a VlanIdReference or VlanIdAssociation.

This TC would be useful when defining an object that refers to a vlan.
For example, a table where each entry can be associated with none, one,
or any vlan. One alternative, with the existing TCs, would be to use
VlanIdOrAny, but have the agent return noSuchInstance when there is no
association with a vlan. Another alternative, with the existing TCs,
would be to use VlanIdOrNone, and not have use of the special any/4095
value.

Regards,

Mark
