Hi everyone,

At the DISPATCH session in London, it became clear that the consensus =
recorded in RFC5785 about the scope of use for Well-Known URIs didn't =
match that in the room; while the intended uses in 2010 were focused on =
site-specific policy and metadata, the mechanism has become attractive =
for other uses as well.

So, in consultation with Alexey, I reached out to the W3C Technical =
Architecture Group to see if they had any concerns about opening upon =
Well-known URI registrations to use cases beyond what's countenanced by =
RFC5785, since the TAG was originally consulted when we established the =
registry:
  https://github.com/w3ctag/design-reviews/issues/237

The answer seems to be that they're not too concerned about =
architectural issues here. That being the case, I think it's reasonable =
to revise 5785 to allow broader use, and would like to confirm that =
direction with the broader community.

I've started to reflect that in a revision of my draft:
  https://mnot.github.io/I-D/rfc5785bis/

Diff from previous:
  =
https://tools.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url2=3Ddraft-nottingham-rfc5785bis-05.txt#d=
iff0001

Alexey has created a mailing list to discuss the future of Well-Known =
URIs here:
  https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/http-well-known

If you have suggestions or feedback on this draft, concerns about this =
change, or other input, please head on over there to discuss.

Cheers,

P.S. Note that Reply-To is set to that list.

Hi all,

We would like to ask the WG to please review and comment on this document.
The chairs and authors think the document should be ready for WGLC, but
there=E2=80=99s been no WG mailing list discussion. While we recognize thi=
s isn=E2=80=99t
necessarily work that=E2=80=99s of general interest to the entire WG, ther=
e was no
opposition to adopting this as a WG document.

We=E2=80=99d like to do a 2 week =E2=80=9Cpre-WGLC=E2=80=9D (ending on May =
29th). If you think the
document is ready and are willing to do a detailed review that would be
great. The plan would be for the authors to take any input received in the
next two weeks and generate a revision and then we=E2=80=99ll run an offici=
al 2
week WGLC. At that time, we=E2=80=99ll also forward the document to other=
 mailing
lists such as ART and relevant W3C list(s) to get any additional input from
those that aren=E2=80=99t subscribed to the DISPATCH WG mailing list.

Regards,

Mary

HI all,

This is a reminder of the IETF-102 deadlines:

   - June 1, 2018. Cutoff date for IETF BoF submissions.
   - June 4, 2018. Cutoff date to notify the chairs/DISPATCH WG of plans to
   submit a proposal.
   - June 11, 2018. Cutoff for charter proposals (i.e., problem statement
and proposed deliverables) for topics posted to the DISPATCH WG mailing
   list.
   - June 18, 2018. Announcement of topics that have been dispatched for
   IETF-102.
   - July 2, 2018. Draft submission deadline.

These are posted on the wiki along with a link to the official deadlines
along with precise times:

https://trac.ietf.org/trac/dispatch/wiki

As usual, priority for agenda time is given to the topics that meet the
deadlines. Topics received after the deadlines will be handled as time
allows. Note, for the last meeting we got a number of requests well after
the deadline. However, we had only scheduled our session for 1.5 hours,
with the remaining hour used for the MODERN WG session. So, if you want
your topic on the agenda, then please let the chairs (and WG) know ASAP so
we can ensure we have a session with adequate time scheduled.

Also, as a reminder, the problem statement does not have to be a full blown
charter. We just want to see a clear statement of the problem you are
trying to solve and a rough notion of the deliverables you think might be
needed to solve that problem.

If you aren=E2=80=99t sure about any of this, please contact the chairs.

Regards,

Mary DISPATCH WG tri-chair

I'm not convinced adding a goal parameter at this point is useful
since not all JavaScript hosts seem keen on adopting it. In
particular, a change proposal to the HTML Standard has not gotten
sufficient implementer interest:
https://github.com/whatwg/html/pull/3205.

I'd much prefer it if the registration was first updated to "match
reality" and additional features are only added if there's actually
sufficient implementers behind them. (Otherwise you have another
Cookie2.)
