Subject: [Ecrit] Additional Call Data: Info Package

Hi,

I put together the first version of an Info Package used to send Additional=
Call Data for an emergency call, using INFO requests.

At this point I have not written a draft, because I think it would fit in d=
raft-rosen-ecrit-addldata-subnot, eventhough we may want to change/remove t=
he =93subnot=94 part in the draft name.

Regards,

Christer

-----------------------------------------------

5. Info Package for Additional Call Data

5.1. General

The Info Package is used to update Additional Call Data related to an emerg=
ency call, as described in [I-D.ietf-ecrit-additional-data].

5.2. Overal Description

TBD

5.3. Applicability

The Info Package is only to be used within an emergency call.

5.4. Info Package Name

The name of the Info Package is: infoAdditionaCallData

5.5. Info Package Parameters

5.5.1. General

An Info Package name parameter, maxRate, is defined for the Info Package. T=
he parameter can be inserted by a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), in =
the Recv-Info header field of a response the INVITE request establishing th=
e emergency call, to indicate the maximum number of INFO requests, associat=
ed with the Info Package, that can be sent towards the PSAP per second.

5.5.2. ABNF

maxRate =3D "maxRate" EQUAL (1*2DIGIT ["." 1*10DIGIT])

5.6. SIP option tags

No SIP option tags are defined for the Info Package.

5.7. INFO message body parts

Additional Call Data is carried in the message body defined in section XXX.

The MIME type value for the message body is: 'application/emergencyCall.Svc=
Info+xml', defined in section XXX.

The Content Disposition value for the message body, when associated with th=
e Info Package, is "info-package" (see RFC 6086 [XX]).

5.8. Info Package usage restrictions

No usage restrictions are defined for the Info Package.

5.9. Rate of INFO requests

A PSAP can indicate the maximum rate for sending INFO requests associated w=
ith the Info Package, using the maxRate Info Package parameter.

In the absence of a maxRate parameter, INFO requests associated with the In=
fo Package MUST NOT be sent more frequently than once every twenty seconds.

5.10. Security considerations

Security considerations for the Info Package update mechanism are
   identical to those in [I-D.ietf-ecrit-additional-data].

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Emergency Context Resolution with Internet Technologies Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Additional Data related to an Emergency Call
        Authors : Brian Rosen
                          Hannes Tschofenig
                          Roger Marshall
                          Randall Gellens
                          James Winterbottom
	Filename : draft-ietf-ecrit-additional-data-21.txt
	Pages : 97
	Date : 2014-03-08

Abstract:
When an emergency call is sent to a Public Safety Answering Point
(PSAP), the device that sends it, as well as any application service
provider in the path of the call, or access network provider through
which the call originated may have information about the call, the
caller or the location which the PSAP may be able to use. This
document describes data structures and a mechanism to convey such
data to the PSAP. The mechanism uses a Uniform Resource Identifier
(URI), which may point to either an external resource or an object in
the body of the SIP message. The mechanism thus allows the data to
be passed by reference (when the URI points to an external resource)
or by value (when it points into the body of the message). This
follows the tradition of prior emergency services standardization
work where data can be conveyed by value within the call signaling
(i.e., in body of the SIP message) and also by reference.

I've read this draft and think that it's potentially useful, very simple, a=
nd worthy of proceeding.

I've sent the authors my complete set of comments (including editorial and =
readability comments). Here are my slightly more substantive comments to th=
e draft.

1. extensionPoint needs to be described and exemplified.

2. Security concerns section needs to mention concerns for invalid location=
s, as well.

3. Terminology: entry for Civic Location is missing, listed terms are not t=
he same as the terms used in the text, and definition of "Invalid" is total=
ly confusing. Based on terms used in document, I recommend removing "Invali=
d", "Invalid Civic Element" and "Invalid Civic Location" and adding the fol=
lowing terms (definitions of these terms are just suggestions):
  1. Civic Location: pointer to RFC that defines it well.
  2. Invalid Element: Any element of a LoST request's Civic Location that t=
he LoST response indicates is invalid.
  3. Invalid Location: A Civic Location that was included in a LoST request=
and has one or more Invalid Elements as indicated in the LoST response.
  4. Invalid Response: A LoST response that lists one or more Invalid Eleme=
nts (i.e., indicates the LoST request's Civic Location is an Invalid Locati=
on).
Alternately, the terms used in the text can be changed to match the terms i=
n Terminology ("Invalid Civic Element" and "Invalid Civic Location"). But t=
he definitions in Terminology still need fixing.

readability comments).

Barbara

	Pages : 23
	Date : 2014-03-17

Abstract:
For some location-based applications, such as emergency calling or
roadside assistance, the trustworthiness of location information is
   critically important.

This document describes how to convey location in a manner that is
inherently secure and reliable. It also provides guidelines for
assessing the trustworthiness of location information.

as I agreed to do during the ecrit meeting - here is a review of draft-mar=
shall-ecrit-similar-location-03

This looks like a very useful and simple (the two do not always go together=
) addition to LoST -=20
something that could be lifesaver in some cases. (There was a story on the=
 news within the last=20
year about sending emergency response to the wrong address because of just =
the type of issue=20
that is included as an example - the address was incomplete and the respond=
ers were sent to=20
the only address that came up - at least that is how the low pass filter of=
 the news reported it)

Section 1.

current text:

This enhancement to the validation feature within LoST is required in order=
 to ensure a high level=20
of address matching, to overcome user and system input errors, and to suppo=
rt the usefulness of
 location-based systems in general.

Comment:

seems to me that the underlying purpose is to increase the likelihood of re=
turning the=20
actual correct civic address at the cost of possibly returning additional v=
alid but incorrect addresses.

=20

Section 2.

The RFC 2119 cite is not needed since the capitalized terms are not used in=
 the document

=20
overall.

Would there be benefit to adding a section describing the behavior where th=
e LoST server has=20
been upgraded to support this feature but the client has not? e.g., would =
there be a way to also
return some indication in the completeLocation to say that there are simila=
r addresses and that=20
they should update their client - and maybe return one of the similar addre=
sses or double them up?

     e.g. 6000 15th Ave NW|SW Seattle, WA 98107

Ugly to be sure - but =85 (if this is done there should be guidance that s=
ays what the client should do -
e.g. if there is a similarLocation then ignore the completeLocation)

also - should there be any discussion of what errors or warnings a LoST ser=
ver should or should not=20
return if it is returning a similarLocation? (maybe to deal with the upgrad=
e question above)
