Greetings:

The PWG Imaging Counter MIB 1.0 from the WIMS WG of the
Printer Working Group has completed its Last Call process.

The Working Draft document and Normative MIB definition are
being submitted by the WIMS Working Group chair for a
Formal Approval vote by the PWG membership.

NOTE:
This Formal Vote is to advance the document and MIB definition to a status
of INFORMATIONAL not Candidate Standard. This is due to the fact that, to
date,
there are NO prototypes of this MIB as required by the Printer Working
Group
Standards development process for advancement to Candidate Standard.

The Working Draft being submitted can be downloaded at:

ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/wd-wimscountmib10-20051129.pdf

The Normative MIB definition can be downloaded at:

ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/wd-wimscountmib10-20051129.mib

The list of comments that were addressed as part of the Last Call
for both the Counter Spec. and the Counter MIB are located at:

ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/LastCallComments/CounterSpec_LC_Comment_Resolution_20050824.pdf

Descriptions of the changes made to the document and mib since last call
are detailed
at:

ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/LastCallComments/wimscount_lc_change_log.doc

The voting period will open on Friday December 2, 2005 and close at 10PM
(Pacific Time) on Friday December 23, 2005.

Valid votes are: Yes, No, No (with strong objection), Abstain.

Any No vote requires that the voter state the reason for the No vote
and a description of the changes required to turn the No vote to a Yes.

Representatives from PWG member companies are strongly encouraged to
submit a vote.

To cast a vote, please send an email with the following subject line
format:

"Counter MIB Spec. 1.0 Formal Vote-<company name>-<last name of
voter>-<yes/no/abstain>"

Example: Counter MIB Spec. 1.0 Formal Vote-Lexmark-thrasher-yes

No votes MUST contain a reason in the body of the email.

(Replacing "dot" with . and "at" with @):

Subject: PWG-ANNOUNCE> New Media Type Registration RFCs
Date: Mon, 12 Dec 2005 10:21:43 -0800
MIME-Version: 1.0
X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2657.72)
Content-Type: text/plain;
	charset="ISO-8859-1"
Sender: owner-pwg-announce@pwg.org

Hi,

The MIME media type registration process has just been significantly
improved (and streamlined for vendor media types). New RFCs:

4288 Media Type Specifications and Registration Procedures. N. Freed,
     J. Klensin. December 2005. (Format: TXT=52667 bytes) (Obsoletes
RFC2048) (Also BCP0013) (Status: BEST CURRENT PRACTICE)

4289 Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Part Four:
Registration Procedures. N. Freed, J. Klensin. December 2005.
(Format: TXT=21502 bytes) (Obsoletes RFC2048) (Also BCP0013) (Status:
     BEST CURRENT PRACTICE)

Oddly, registering MIME media types just got a lot simpler, while
registering URI Schemes just got more restrictive (well, on paper -
in point of fact registering URI Schemes has been effectively broken
for some time). See the IESG approved

    <draft-hansen-2717bis-2718bis-uri-guidelines-06.txt>

- Ira

Hi folks,

This RFC concisely describes known attacks against MD5 and
SHA-1 (which together are the ubiquitous hash algorithms
in current Internet protocols).

4270 Attacks on Cryptographic Hashes in Internet Protocols. P.
Hoffman, B. Schneier. November 2005. (Format: TXT=26641 bytes)

Scary, but important reading.

Cheers,

This is due to the fact that, to
date,
there are NO prototypes of this MIB as required by the Printer Working Group

Standards development process for advancement to Candidate Standard.

The Working Draft being submitted can be downloaded at:

detailed
at:

a vote.

To cast a vote, please send an email with the following subject line format:

"Counter MIB Spec. 1.0 Formal Vote-<company name>-<last name of

NOTE:
This Formal Vote is to advance the document and MIB definition to a status

there are NO prototypes of this MIB as required by the Printer Working Group
Standards development process for advancement to Candidate Standard.

The Working Draft being submitted can be downloaded at:

Sorry, my error. The Last Call for the WIMS schema should have been announced in conjunction with Monday's last call on the WIMS protocol spec.
In accord with the PWG process document, ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/general/pwg-process20.pdf, the the W3C schema and sample WSDL associated with the "Web-based Imaging Management Service V1.0 Abstract Protocol" specification have completed WIMS working group last call and are now being presented for PWG -wide last call. The period for the PWG last call on these documents is now open with the intention of concluding this at the January face-to-face.
The documents are posted at:
 ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/schemas/schedule-20051209.xsd
        - Schedule v0.94

  ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/schemas/wimsmsg-20051209.xsd
        - WIMS Message v0.20

 ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/schemas/wimstype-20051209.xsd
        - WIMS Type v0.40

 ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/schemas/wims-local-20051209.zip
      - ZIP of eight WIMS schema, WSDL/2.0 for WIMS, and release notes

Please send any comments to the wims@pwg.org list. Please do not respond to the PWG-ANNOUNCE list.
Many thanks, and Happy Holidays!
