Hi,

Apparently this _is_ some money available for travel sponsorships
to the OSDL Printing Summit (10-12 April 2006). Please respond
ASAP, if you're interested.

Cheers,
- Ira

Subject: [Desktop_printing] TRAVEL SPONSORSHIP - ACTION REQUIRED

If you require travel sponsorship (flight, hotel) in order to attend the
Linux Printing summit your

action is required. Please send a mail to John Cherry, Till Kamppeter and/or
myself BEFORE

Friday, March 3 to let us know

1) that you intent to attend but need sponsorship

2) the departure location of your flight and estimated cost of your
flight

You must do this even if you have already indicated before that you will
require sponsorship.

Note that their are 35 registrations so far and that there are only 15
places left so also make sure

to register if you haven't done that yet.

Hi,

The PWG Semantic Model Working Group has been on hiatus since the
publishing of the Semantic Model and associated Schema. There is work
from other work groups that needs to be reflected in an update to the
Semantic Model as well as some possible application of the PWG candidate
standard. =20

Some of the items that will be taken up are:

    Inclusion of Usage Counters

Inclusion of Device semantics (i.e. Printer MIB device model
inclusion)

Inclusion of Web-based Imaging Management Services=20

    Extension to MultiFunction Devices

PWG Semantic Model applicability to Management by Web Services (e.g.
WSDM, WS-Management)

RDF Schema for PWG Semantic Model vocabulary

(Let me know if I'm missing something)

Please take the time to listen in to this teleconference to see if the
Semantic Model work might be useful across the industry for management
and service solutions in heterogeneous environments.

The concall is at 1PM EST on Wednesday, 29 March.

Just a reminder (since we sometimes forget to explicitly mention this at
F2F meetings),
that PWG members are encouraged to submit letters of assurance for
intellectual
property that is relevant to a candidate-standard (referred to as
proposed standard in the legal section of
of the PWG process document).

As the WIMS Abstract Protocol Spec. approaches the Formal Approval process
please keep this in mind.

Call for Objections
PWG/CIM Printing Classes Realignment Documents
=20
The Printer Working Group has entered into an alliance with the DMTF=AE t=
o update and correct the documentation of printing related classes in th=
e DMTF Common Information Model (CIM). This activity has proceeded with t=
he approach of first identifying and providing a DMTF change request for =
the Printer Class document, CIM_Printer.mof. Other Printing related-class=
 documents will be addressed subsequently.
=20
The PWG CIM Printing Refresh v1.0 (16 March 2006) document at ftp://ftp.p=
wg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/wd-wimscimprint10-20060316.htm=20
is an explanatory text identifying the problem areas in the CIM Printer c=
lass document and defining appropriate changes. The document at ftp://ftp=
.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/CIMCoreNNNNN.000-20060322.htm=20
is a draft of the Change Request (CR)to be submitted to DMTF for changes =
to be made to the CIM_Printer.mof in CIMv2.11. Note that content of the c=
hanges is completely defined in the PWG CIM Printing Refresh text; the CR=
is a DMTF document to be submitted to the DMTF CIM CORE group for review=
and approval prior to update of the CIM_Printer.mof
=20
This Call for Objections announcement is to alert PWG members of the chan=
ges that the PWG is requesting to CIM_Printer.mof, as well as to provide =
background for these changes, and to ensure that the PWG membership has t=
he opportunity to voice objections to the requested changes. The Call for=
Objections will be open until the start of the CIM session at the PWG fa=
ce-to-face meeting on Wednesday, 4 April.
=20
Please submit any objections to the PWG mailing list (pwg@pwg.org), not =
to this Announce list. The intent is to discuss and resolve any objection=
s at the CIM Session of the face-to-face so that the CR can be submitted =
to DMTF in a timely manner.
=20
Note that, as this activity proceeds, text describing the required change=
s to other CIM Printing classes will be added to the PWG CIM Printing Ref=
resh document. The complete document will be updated to reflect any chang=
es made in the final CIM CORE-approved CRs, and the document will then be=
entered into the PWG review and approval process for an informative docu=
ment.

Hi,

In case you don't know already, the IESG has approved
the 1.0 document set. Simon and I would like to thank
the WG for all their hard work getting this done.

I would especially like to thank the document Editors,
Rob Enns, Margaret Wasserman, Eliot Lear, and Ted Goddard.
I'm not sure all these people knew how much work they
signed up for when we started the XMLCONF Design Team about
6 years ago, but they hung in there anyway.

thanks,
Andy and Simon

Hi Ira,

While the WG was composed mainly of router folks, I think NETCONF
(especially using a web service) has broader applicability, and has a
nice extensibility model.

Could someone send me the host passcode for the PWG teleconference line.
I can't seem to find it and the meeting will go much more smoothly if I
have it.
Thanks,
Pete
