Hi,

Today at the MPLS WG meeting I suggested that the multiplexed marking conce=
pt that was presented in IPPM (see link below) can be applied to draft-brya=
nt-mpls-rfc6374-sfl. Using this multiplexing approach, the number of SFLs u=
sed for measurement can potentially be reduced from 3 or 4 labels to just 2=
labels. Note that the assumption in the multiplexed marking draft is that =
you can use a guard-band period between the start time of the loss measurem=
ent window, and the start time of the delay measurement.

Here is a link to the multiplexed marking draft:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-mizrahi-ippm-multiplexed-alternate-m=
arking/

Any feedback about the multiplexed marking draft, and about its applicabili=
ty to MPLS will be welcome.
I will be happy to discuss this further.

Cheers,
Tal.

Respected All,

This is regarding the above draft. May I request you to review it and let u=
s know the feedback. We appreciate your support.

Feature

This is draft is explaining about various models for loss monitoring, we ar=
e not discussing any protocol payload. This can be used for any technologie=
s, active/passive measurements.
This draft broadly divided in to 4 areas.

1. Complete loss measurement in single direction.
2. Color Based measurement.
3. Cos based measurement.
4. Cos and color based measurement.

The benefit of this model is that the provider's end customer can check whe=
ther their provider is giving the committed rate, provider can measure the =
burst of their end customer traffic and bill accordingly.
This gives the flexibility to measure the packet based on COS model and eac=
h COS level is treated separately. The color gives the flexibility to check=
 the excess burst.

Regards,
Sudhin

IPPM and IANA Experts,

I met with IANA folks again in Seoul, and collected
additional comments and suggestions for clarification
from Michelle and Amanda. This version addresses
their comments.

Michelle and Amanda,
We talked about a mock-up of the Registry. After returning
home, I realized I made a mock-up back in 2014. I'll share
that (an updated version) with you in a separate message.

comments welcome,
Al
