e found by clicking on diff1.
             - 11 version from 10. Draft version 11 can be found at http://=
tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-l2vpn-vpls-mcast-11 and the changes from ver=
sion 10 can be found by clicking on diff1.

Please note that version 10 was simply a refresh of version 9.

This is a request to gauge consensus as to whether:

http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-jiang-l2vpn-vpls-pe-etree-06

should be accepted as an L2VPN WG draft.

We discussed adoption of this draft in Vancouver, and the consensus of =
the room seemed to be to adopt it, but of course the list is where we =
make decisions :)

Note that we also discussed adoption of the other VPLS E-Tree drafts in =
Vancouver and there was very little support. If multiple people email =
me asking to adopt one or other of those drafts I'll poll that one also.

Please review the draft and respond to the list by Thursday September =

Subject: WG adoption call for VPLS PE Model for E-Tree Support

This is a request to gauge consensus as to whether:

http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-jiang-l2vpn-vpls-pe-etree-06

should be accepted as an L2VPN WG draft.

We discussed adoption of this draft in Vancouver, and the consensus of the =
room seemed to be to adopt it, but of course the list is where we make deci=
sions :)

Note that we also discussed adoption of the other VPLS E-Tree drafts in Van=
couver and there was very little support. If multiple people email me as=
king to adopt one or other of those drafts I'll poll that one also.

Please review the draft and respond to the list by Thursday September 6th w=
ith comments as to its suitability for WG adoption.

Giles

Subject: WG adoption call for VPLS PE Model for E-Tree Support

This is a request to gauge consensus as to whether:

http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-jiang-l2vpn-vpls-pe-etree-06

should be accepted as an L2VPN WG draft.

We discussed adoption of this draft in Vancouver, and the consensus of the=
=20
room seemed to be to adopt it, but of course the list is where we make=20
decisions :)

Note that we also discussed adoption of the other VPLS E-Tree drafts in=20
Vancouver and there was very little support. If multiple people email me=
=20
asking to adopt one or other of those drafts I'll poll that one also.

Please review the draft and respond to the list by Thursday September 6th=20
with comments as to its suitability for WG adoption.

Giles

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts director=

Abstract:
IEEE 802.1ah standard [IEEE802.1ah], also known as Provider Backbone
Bridges (PBB) defines an architecture and bridge protocols for
interconnection of multiple Provider Bridge Networks (PBNs). PBB was
defined in IEEE as a connectionless technology based on multipoint
VLAN tunnels. MSTP is used as the core control plane for loop
avoidance and load balancing. As a result, the coverage of the
solution is limited by STP scale in the core of large service
provider networks. PBB on the other hand can be used to attain better
scalability in terms of number of customer MAC addresses and number
of service instances that can be supported.

Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) [RFC4664] provides a framework for
extending Ethernet LAN services, using MPLS tunneling capabilities,
through a routed MPLS backbone without running (M)STP across the
backbone. As a result, VPLS has been deployed on a large scale in
   service provider networks.

This draft discusses extensions to the VPLS PE model required to
incorporate desirable PBB components while maintaining the Service
Provider fit of the initial model.

Speaking entirely as an individual, I am not overjoyed by the license terms
promised in the disclosure at http://datatracker.ietf.org/ipr/1756/

I don't think this predicates against adopting this document into the WG, but it
would be good if we can think about the IPR and consider whether the WG solution
can avoid the IPR claim and so avoid the license that has been threatened.

In contrast, the disclosure at http://datatracker.ietf.org/ipr/1708/ contains
license terms seem acceptable to me.

Cheers,
Adrian
