This is good advice, which I'm forwarding for your perusal.

Don't forget to check out appropriate drafts. You can find them off of =
the charter pages or in the I-D directory off of the ietf.org home page.

Subject: Preparing WGs for the upcoming meeting in Vienna

Greetings again. The meeting in Vienna in a few weeks will probably
be the first for many of the people in your WGs. A little WG-wide
nudge a few weeks before the face-to-face meeting might get more
effective results. This might be a good time to send a message to the
WG mailing list, wearing your WG hat, reminding folks:

- Newcomers can learn a lot ahead of time by reading the Tao of the
IETF at <http://www.ietf.org/tao.html>. The newcomer orientation on
Sunday (this year, at 1PM) is useful, but it is even more useful if
they have read the Tao first.

- It is a good idea to at least skim the WG archives for the past
four months before the meeting to help prevent rehashing items that
have already been decided and to help focus on items that need more
review.

- Similarly, it is a good idea to re-read the WG's charter before the
meeting. Heck, many WG chairs could get value from this...

- Many IETF areas have area-wide meetings. People who are interested
in more than just one WG can get a feel for what is happening in
other areas by going to these meetings.

- The "Note Well" notice is serious. It can be found at
<http://www.ietf.org/overview.html>, and will be given on paper in
the registration packets.

Goodday!
It is with hope that I write to seek your help in this context=2E
I am Mrs=2ERose Guei wife of the former Head Of State of
Cote'd Ivoire=2CLate General Robert Guei who was assassinated on
the19th of September 2002 in a military uprising in my country=2E
I got your email address from network directory=2EI apologize if I
have infringed on your privacy=2E

However=2Csince my husband death=2C I have been thrown into a state
of utter confusion=2C frustration and hopelessness by the present
administration of President Laurent Gbagbo=2E The security agents in
the country have subjected me to physical and psychological torture=2E
Subsequently=2C events in my country has now led to the break up of the
country with many displaced individuals including Foreigners=2E This
you would have heard in the news=2E
Unfortunately=2C loyalist soldiers of the present leader of the
country=2C President Laurent Gbagbo have continued to loot and
assassinate those perceived to be against his regime=2E
In view of these=2CI secretly left my country Cote'd ivoire for the
Accra in Ghana to seek asylum=2E
I am using this medium=2C to humbly approach you for assistance in
the resettlement and relocation of my three children and I out of
Accra-Ghana where we are temporarily seeking Political Asylum=2E
Besides=2C I am equally=2C using this correspondence to seek and
request your assistance and cooperation in a sensitive but highly
beneficial financial arrangement=2E
Prior to the death of my husband=2C he deposited a huge amount of
money in a consignment in a security company=92s vault overseas=2E The
fact that my husband is Dead and we continue to accumulate huge debts
daily as long as this consignment remains in the security company=92s
vault=2C made me decided to get someone reliable to proceed as soon as
possible to receive these funds=2Emy plan is to invest the money so as
to safeguard my future and that of my children=2E It is very essential
that you understand the kind of trust and confidence I want to put in
you=2E This is an act of desperation on my part=2C in order not to loose
this money=2E
For your reliable assistance=2C if willing=2C I will reward you with
25% of the money=2E
As soon as you declare your willingness to assist=2C i shall
furnish you with the details and information you will need to
accomplish this task=2E
For obvious security reasons=2C it is imperative that you keep all
our communication very secret=2E Do not mention my family=92s name or
disclose the transaction to anybody=2E
Thank you in anticipation for your assistance in enabling me
achieve this goal=2E Please contact me whether or not you are
interested in assisting me=2E This will enable me scout for another
partner in the event of non-interest on your part=2E

Your=92s sincerely=2C
Mrs Rose Guei=2E

As usual, Jiri Kuthan and the team at iptel.org are providing SIMPLE =
support
for text messaging at IETF 57.

There is a sip2jabber service that connects SIP users to jabber chat =

We've been using it for the last several meetings. More information can =

Meeting notes of LEMONADE group meeting by Chanh Phung
=09
Meeting in Room LM @ Vienna Center

Chairs : Glenn Pearson
	Eric Burger

Agenda bashing - 10 min=20
No issue

LEMONADE Goals (ex Requirements) - 40 min=20
  - draft-lemonade-goals-00.txt - Editor Kue Wong=20
should we have an architecture as well?=20

Charter was shown.
Q: should it be IMAP4 ?
A: Yes, it is explicitly written in the charter.
One of the notes from the chair is to extend email to wireless handset.

IMAP4 extensions for mobile devices - 30 =20
       - draft-lemonade-imap-submit-xx.txt - Editor Randall Gellens=20
    - draft-shveidel-mediasize-02.txt=20
   - draft-vaudreuil-futuredelivery-01.txt=20
Slides:
-	Issue & architecture document.
-	Draft from 4 earlier drafts, started from IETF 56. Has sections on =
client-model, internet mail enhancement, detailed requirements for =
telephone interface and wireless handheld.
-	New material adds cellular perspective to text and multimedia =
messaging.
-	Push-notification delivery
-	E.164 delivery
-	Discussions about the enhancements to IMAP4
Issues:
-	Tighter spec of IMAP4 enhancements for limited capability clients
-	Tighter spec of requirements for notification format and mechanism
-	IMAP support for interworking with MMS
-	More detailed architectural description or separate architectural =
document

Q. Should it be only mobile handheld or expand to TUI ?
Randy. Did not see anything about user interface in the charter, only =
networking, memory, bandwidth, latency related constraints.
Glenn. The goal doc explains the environment, but do not get into what =
the TUI should be. It specifies the use cases and the problems to solve. =
More as a description of the requirement, not design doc.
Randy. Are we
Greg. There are things beyond network efficiency, but protocol related =
in order to support TUI features.
Glenn. Agree. Request review the goal document and comment on what =
should be added/deleted.
Randy. Are we committing to go to RFC with this goal document ? Good =
about a guiding document, but not useful as an informational RFC.
Glenn. Good point. Need to focus on use case. Decision to publish this =
document should be later.
Vote : not working on TUI.
Glenn. Request to study and comment on this document to identify work =
items.

Q. Request feedbacks on contents.
Glenn. Start a new thread on the mailing list for each content item.

IMAP push/pull (draft-ietf-lemonade-submit-00.txt)- Randy
Forward without download: Allow IMAP client to include =
previously-received message without downloading
Push mechanism:
1.	Annotated outbox/external agent: requires annotation support by the =
client.
2.	IMAP does submit intrinsically: add message submission to IMAP.
-	Require IMAP the capability to queue message
-	Generate DSN
-	Forward to smart
-	OK from IMAP does not mean message accepted
-	Client polls message to learn status or get DSN
-	Add complexity to IMAP for limited cases: non-SMTP submit (e.g. IM)
-	Admin complexity
3.	Proxy/submit server: few changes to IMAP
-	Does not return OK until get ack from submit -> longer submission
-	Submit server has to authenticate to IMAP server -> new authentication =
and authorization.
Comments:
-	#2. have a choice to deprecate message submission, or have two =
parallel message submission.
-	#2 vs. #3. different client=20
-	#3. submit server and IMAP server can be co-located.
-	Suggest to add a design goal (elegance vs. efficiency)
-	All 3 options define a new submission protocol, not only #2 and #3. =
Good point.

Pull mechanism: Pawn ticket. Per user mailbox secret.
Comment.
-	Randy. There are some interesting usage for the pawn ticket model.
-	Dave. Great summary of the draft. Composition should be tightly with =
IMAP function and composition by reference is not a good idea. Double =
login is not a big deal. Ticket mechanism is a risk.
-	Glenn. Is trigger to submit assumed ? different mechanism would have =
different assumption.
-	Chris. Need two composition services: full composition, compose and =
append. Both are already adopted.
-	Chris. was a proponent of IMAP push model. Should not have multiple =
ways to submit for IM, etc. Now a proposal of IMAP pull model.
-	xxx. Need to focus on the split client-model decision.
-	Lisa. Same problem is resolved in IM, using URI instead of attach the =
whole thing. Please consider this model.
-	Eric. The requirement is the object is there whenever needed, =
regardless of pull/push/reference. A scenario to consider is when one =
client delete, the other client forward, and the reference should be =
managed accordingly.
-	Eric. Should the protocol protects the user from wrongful use ?
-	Dave. Let's take the ticket mechanism out of the scope of immediate =
resolution.
-	Randy. Assumption about trusted environment is probably not =
acceptable.
-	Dave. Let's figure out what is useful for our users ??? Ticket =
mechanism is a high risk item.
-	Pete. Ease of implementation should be the most important.
-	Pete. IMAP composition should be a separate issue. Push or pull would =
be determined later.
-	Vote. Support client compose and append.
-	xxx. Design the system in a modular way to take on authentication =
later.
-	Glenn. Have two questions to vote.
-	Eric. It is premature to vote now. Should wait until Pete's work=20
-	Vote. Should have only one RFC for the chosen option.
-	Vote. Split between push and pull.
=09
Draft-shveidel-mediasize-02
Q. Should it be a working group doc ?
Vote. Not a working group item.
Comments:
Ari. Willing to limit the scope to make it a working group doc. It is =
ready, but needs reviews.
Chris. Have substantial work load for the charter. Willing to give =
expert review but not working group item.

Draft-vaudreuil-futuredelivery-01
Q. Should it be a working group doc ?
Vote. It is a working group doc.
Comments.
This work item should be part of IMAP push/pull.
The document will continue as usual. The document will be absorbed to =
the push/pull document whenever necessary.

IMAP4 profile for mobile devices - 5 min=20
   - volunteers will be solicited in Vienna=20

Translation to and from other messaging systems - 10 min=20
-	draft-gellens-lemonade-mms-mapping-00.txt.=20
Vote: This is a working group doc.
Slides
Mapping between email and MMS.
MMS delivery and read report is text, not multipart.
MMS specific features: sender addr hiding, reply charging.
X-MMS-* headers
Comments.
Eric. How this work is shared with 3GPP and 3GPP2 ?
Randy. This should be published as RFC, then reference by 3GPP2.

Server-to-Server Notification Protocol - 5 min=20
    - brief discussion of direction =20

IMAP4 extensions for streaming VM playback - 10 min=20
   - draft-lemonade-imap-channel-xx.txt - Editor Eric Burger=20
Comments.
Pete. Lyndon is the new editor of this document.

Milestone bashing - 10 min=20

Deliverables:
Discussed, updated and agreed.

Milestones:
