MobiCom 2020: Call for Workshops and Tutorials
ACM MobiCom is the premier international conference dedicated to addressing=
emerging topics in mobile and wireless networking and computing. MobiCom 2=
020 will hold multiple full or half day workshops and tutorials on Septembe=
r 21 (Monday), 2020 and September 25 (Friday), 2020 of the conference week.=
Workshop papers will be included with the MobiCom proceedings and publishe=
d in the ACM Digital Library.
We solicit workshop and tutorial proposals on new and emerging topics that =
broadly relate to the general areas of mobile communications, wireless netw=
orking and mobile computing.
Workshop Guidelines
The ideal workshop proposal will focus on a timely and emerging topic and b=
e able to attract a number of interesting and high-quality contributions th=
at spark discussions in an informal setting. The goal of the workshop paper=
s is primarily to stimulate interactive conversations and inspire new resea=
rch ideas. Proposals on emerging or disruptive topics that are likely to ge=
nerate significant interest in the community will be selected.
MobiCom 2020 will likely feature a mix of some returning and some new works=
hops. Workshop proposals may be either research-oriented or experimental:
Research-oriented Workshops
We encourage more conventional research-oriented workshops that address com=
pelling and growing fields of study. Topics should be grounded and clearly =
relate to the ACM MobiCom community, and its core areas of interests (e.g.,=
wireless networking and mobile computing). However, we anticipate workshop=
proposals will also introduce and connect to a set of topics of broader im=
portance, including but not limited to: autonomous cars and systems, health=
care and medical domains, safety/security/privacy, distributed ledgers and =
cryptocurrencies, machine learning/artificial intelligence, diversity and e=
thics, technology issues for developing regions, and novel radio/hardware/p=
rocessor architecture technologies.
Experimental Workshops
We also invite workshop proposals that would target papers presenting exten=
sive experiences with implementation, deployment, and operation of mobile c=
omputing and wireless networks.
Workshop Proposal Submission Instructions
The proposal should be no longer than three pages and should include at lea=
st the following:

  *
The name of the workshop.
  *
Proposal track (research-oriented or experimental) in the title
  *
The name, address, and a short bio (up to 200 words) of each organizer (up =
to three).
  *
A motivation and rationale that includes a brief description of the technic=
al issues to be addressed, and why those issues are timely.
  *
The list of names and affiliations of potential program committee members.
  *
The planned format of the workshop, including the length of the workshop (h=
alf day or full day), and a strategy to facilitate lively discussions and a=
ttendee involvement.
  *
If previous editions have been held, a description of past versions of the =
workshop, including the number of submitted and accepted papers, and number=
 of attendees.
  *
A description of the publicity plan.
  * A call for papers with workshop deadlines (aligned with the relevant =
Important Dates below).

Tutorial Guidelines
Tutorial topics should be of significant interest to the MobiCom community.=
Tutorials may consist of lectures, interactive sessions, hands-on trainin=
g, or any combination of the above.
Tutorial Proposal Submission Instructions
The proposal should be no longer than three pages and should include at lea=
st the following:

  *
The name of the tutorial.
  *
The name, address, and short bio (up to 200 words) of each organizer (up to=
 three).
  *
A motivation and rationale for the tutorial.
  *
Reference to the knowledge that the audience should expect to gather with t=
he tutorial.
  *
An outline of the tutorial content, including the length of the tutorial (h=
alf day or full day) and a tentative schedule.
  *
Requirements for the tutorial room (please note that our capabilities in fu=
lfilling unusual requests are limited).
  *
Requirements for the attendees (e.g., must bring their own laptop or other =
hardware, familiarity with certain technologies or topics, etc.).
  * Any other limitations (e.g., number of participants).

Submissions
Please send your proposal in PDF (only) via e-mail to both the workshop/tut=
orial co-chairs =D6zg=FC Alay and Lan Wang (contact details are provided be=
low). Ensure that proposals contain "MobiCom 2020 Workshop/Tutorial Proposa=

General Information
ACM MobiCom provides basic support for the workshops and tutorials in the f=
orm of registration, publication, publicity, meeting space, audio/video equ=
ipment, lunch, and coffee breaks. To promote flexibility, the details inclu=
ding the format of the workshop/tutorial and the form of submissions and pr=
esentations are typically left to the organizers of each workshop/tutorial.=
Because workshops are meant to foster discussions on emerging topics of in=
terest among the broader SIGMOBILE community, workshops are encouraged to b=
e inclusive rather than exclusive in their solicitation of material. In add=
ition, we encourage organizers to target more interactive forums such as pr=
esentations of short papers, posters and demos, panels, and round-table dis=
cussions, rather than traditional presentations of full-length papers. Wor=
kshops/tutorials not attracting enough submissions and registrations may be=
cancelled at the decision of the organizing committee.

We look forward to your submissions. Please feel free to contact us with an=
y questions about submitting a workshop/tutorial proposal.

######################################################################

                      Call for Contributions
                  for maprg, IETF 107, Vancouver

The IRTF Measurement and Analysis for Protocols Research Group
(maprg) will have its next (2 hour) meeting during IETF 107
(21-27 March, 2020) in Vancouver, BC. We invite you to submit your
candidate measurement research contributions for presentation at
the maprg meeting. The contribution can be new (measurement) work,
work accepted for publication, or a recent publication in the scope
of the research group. Please see the charter for questions on scope:

  https://datatracker.ietf.org/rg/maprg/charter/

Please send a short abstract (200-300 words) to the maprg chairs
(maprg-chairs@ietf.org) describing your proposed contribution. For
planning purposes we encourage to send your contribution as soon
as possible and latest by:

       Mar 2, 2020

Further, we encourage short presentations (5-10 min) with updates
of measurement data that have been presented previously in maprg.

The chairs will assemble an agenda for the meeting based on
received submissions taking into consideration the group's scope,
common themes, and/or relevance to current IETF work. While remote
presentations are possible and welcome, we will favor in-person
presentations if needed due to meeting time restrictions as this
supports additional interaction with the IETF community outside of
the meeting which is also a goal for this group. Also since meeting
time includes questions, comments, and discussion, contributors
may be invited to present, instead, in subsequent meetings.

Please share this call with other interested people or groups!

Thanks for sending your contributions!

######################################################################

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!

- Dave and Mirja (maprg chairs)

Hi Miirja,

Here is my proposal for the upcoming MAPRG meeting - I think 10-15
minutes would work:

Title: Update on Counting Active IPv6 WWW Clients with kIP

Abstract:

This is an update to an earlier MAPRG contribution, which is
background information for this top:

"kIP: a Measured Approach to IPv6 Address Anonymization" (July 2017)
   (from the MAPRG wiki: https://trac.ietf.org/trac/irtf/wiki/map)
   video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYtaKuzXaiM#t=59m55s
   slides: https://www.ietf.org/proceedings/99/slides/slides-99-maprg-kip-a-measured-approach-to-ipv6-address-anonymization-03.pdf

Our latest results, as of early 2020, show that there are more than
400 million simultaneously-assigned IPv6 /64 prefixes used by clients
accessing the WWW and specifically Akamai-hosted WWW properties. This
new lower-bound estimate represents a substantial increase from our
initial results two years ago (e.g., 110 million, October, 2017) and
strongly suggests that there are well over 400 million Internet users
having native IPv6 WWW connectivity, an elusive value to measure and
previously unreported and unknown.
