Hello

I am glad to see MOBOPTS RG to discuss interesting issue related
mobility.
Charter of this RG wrote above issue as below
"These considerations become even more challenging when a terminal
handovers across different access networks, such as from a Wireless
LAN to CDMA or to GPRS. Hence, it would be extremely useful to
understand
these problems as the transition to the Mobile Internet accelerates."

I am trying to contribute this issue as IETF I-D and Whitepaper in IPv6
forum.
In particular, whitepaper has been already released on the IPv6 forum
mailing list.
http://home.megapass.co.kr/~natpp00/MIPv6ApplicationNote3G-WiFiRoaming.p
df

Can I discuss this issue on this RG as interesting item ?

If you have any question or comment, let me know it

Cheers

please go ahead. What would help is a description of what
problems you are trying to address, in addition to any solution itself.

Dear MOBOPTS members.

Originally, I wrote a paper " Mobile IPv6 Application Note " and
forwarded it to the IPv6 forum and forwarded it to this mailing list.
This paper described 3G and WiFi Interworking based on MIPv6 and was
proposed to provide IPv6
application for anyone who may wish to get information about this topic.
However there are critical problem and my serious fault. For the section
of Tight Coupling vs. Loose Coupling Architecture in this paper, I
refered and cited texts and a figure from the Design and Implementation
of a WLAN/CDMA2000
Interworking Architecture - written by Milind M. Buddhikot,Girish
Chandranmenon, Seungjae Han,
Yui-Wah Lee, Scott C. Miller and Luca Salgarelli in November 2003 Issue
of IEEE Communications Magazine. However I didn't address this reference
in this paper. So I am sending my apology to let everyone know this
fault.
I deeply apologize to authors of original paper for my mistake.

with best wishes

Daniel

PS: Aside from this problem, I will send our draft which will address 3G
and WLAN Interworking based on Mobile IPv6, particularly, this draft
will include fast handover consideration such as Layer 2 Hint method and
DNA (Detecting Network Attachment) BoF solutions as well.

Sorry to bother you again.

Hello folks,

Welcome to Mobopts!

We would like to solicit proposals for discussion. Few nits below:

A proposal should clearly identify how the problem is relevant
for the research group and how the solution will be used, for
instance, in IETF and IEEE or elsewhere.

Proposals that are supported either through implementation results or
simulation results are strongly preferred. Proposals that provide
simulation environment and modeling tools for benchmarking performance
are highly encouraged.

We would like to extend a warm invite to researchers from academia.

Welcome again, and we look forward to your proposals.

Rajeev Koodli and Bill Arbaugh

Hi Rajeev,

What do you mean by proposals? I've not particpated actively in an RG
before, but I thought the procedure is similar to conference papers, i.e.
people do research (directed at charter objectives naturally) then bring
the results to the RG to discuss.

            jak

Hi Jim,

by proposals I mean input (research results, new concepts
that need further interaction, information about new tools
for experimentation, etc) to the RG to stimulate discussion.
So, your analogy to conferences is on the dot, except that

Regards,

-Rajeev
