Folks,

It appears that there is some level of interest to have a meeting in
Vancouver. I am still not fully convinced, however. In any event, I
have submitted a request for a meeting slot.

If there is a strong case for rechartering or charter expansion or new
items, please convince folks on this list and others and request them to
come to the meeting. I will request Tim to be present so we can gauge
interest. Leading up to the meeting (if the secretariat can indeed
accommodate us), I would like to see activity in that direction.

Next, let us also try to finish the currently chartered items and other
works in progress.

Please feel free to send requests for Agenda slots. Once I hear from
the secretariat, I will update you.

thanks,
Lakshminath

Hi all,

When we used MSEC GKM protocols, such as GDOI and GSAKMP, to provide
automated group keying for rfc4552, we found a chicken&egg issue.
Section 4 of draft-liu-ospfv3-automated-keying-req,
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-liu-ospfv3-automated-keying-
req-01.txt, explains that issue in details as follows:

MSEC GKM protocols, such as GSAKMP and GDOI, are based on a
client/server model. This means these protocols rely on
reachability
between clients and servers for the clients to obtain the group SA
from the server. In this case, the GKM is providing protection for
OSPF, which is an essential component in providing reachability
between the clients and servers. Hence, the client/server model
   breaks down in this situation.

To overcome this problem, the group SA must be locally available to

each group member (each OSPFv3 router). Possible solutions to this
circular dependency and their specific requirements are presented
in
   this section.
   ...

Section 4 of draft-liu-ospfv3-automated-keying-req also discusses 3
possible deployment scenarios that can make group SAs locally
available. Except for deploying a physical key server per multicast
network, all other deployment scenarios need extensions to be added to
GKM protocols. I think such extensions would be new MSEC work items.

Comments are welcome.

Liu Ya

The Gold Watcher
American Dollar continues to drop as Gold breaks $800/ounce.

Hemisphere Gold (HPGI) $1.00

Gold prices are climbing twice as fast as last years predictions. Lack
of exploration in the 90's has caused a depleted gold supply and the US
dollar has pushed investors to a more secure investment.

Suriname is the biggest name in the Gold market as recent findings have
shown huge deposits and over 50 Million ounces have already been
extracted.

Hemisphere Gold Inc has recently announced findings of rich gold
deposits in Suriname. This is on their 720 sq mile property right in the
middle of the largest gold mines in the Suriname gold belt.

Important Points To Remember

1. Analysts have predicted a steady rise in gold for the last two years.
Prices have already exceeded their expectations.
2. Lack of development of new mine locations during the 90's is now
creating a shortage of gold in a high demand market.
3. Share prices have been strong through out the year and recent news
has increased share values by over 110%.
4. Suriname is in the middle of a modern day Gold rush. HPGI's property
is in the middle of one of the highest producing gold deposits in the
world.
5. Gold tends to be a better investment as it keeps its value better
than most currencies over time.

Hemisphere is launching a large media campaign next week with the intent
of raising investor awareness of there recent findings in Suriname. This
may be the best time to review the companys website and check out
profiles on sites like Stockguru. Move fast on it this week and get
ahead of next weeks media hit.

The Gold Market Update
US Dollar takes beating as Gold Values Soar.

Hemisphere Gold (HPGI) $1.00

Market annalists predicted gold to hit as high as $800 within 2 years.
Gold has hit $over 800 an ounce in just one year due to depleted gold
supplies and a falling US Dollar.

New technology has uncovered large deposits in Suriname, a country know
for its gold since the 1700's but has until now not been fully explored.

HPGI has a 720 sq mile property right in the middle of the Gold Belt In
Suriname. Cutting edge technology has already revealed rich deposits at
nearly 4 ounces per ton.

Top 5 Points On Hemisphere Gold Inc.

1. Depletion in supplies has caused Gold to climb from $600 to over $800
an once since January.
2. The Asian demand for gold has been increasing exponentially in their
high growth economy, yet the market is not able to meet the demand.
3. Cutting edge technology and careful financial management has taken
this company far. Recent news is showing as high as 3.55 Ounces/Ton.
4. Suriname is one of the largest gold rushes in the world right now.
HPGI's claim is in the middle of some of the largest producing mines in
the Suriname Gold Belt.
5. Gold has continued to be a strong foundation for financial security
globally.

Hemisphere is certainly the next hot stock in the booming gold market.
Media campaigns are set to launch next week and recent news releases are
already forcing share prices up over 120% in just the last few weeks.
This is the time to carefully consider HPGI as your next investment
opportunity.

A new version of I-D, draft-ietf-msec-ipsec-group-counter-modes-01.txt has been successfuly submitted by Brian Weis and posted to the IETF repository.

Filename: draft-ietf-msec-ipsec-group-counter-modes
Revision: 01
Title: Using Counter Modes with Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) and Authentication Header (AH) to Protect Group Traffic
Creation_date: 2007-11-15
WG ID: msec
Number_of_pages: 13

Abstract:
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) counter modes use a counter, which
is typically assumed to be incremented by a single sender. This memo
describes the use of AES counter modes when applied to the
Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) and Authentication Header (AH)
in multiple-sender group applications.

Sorry for the bulk email ...

Brian and Liu, please prepare slides on your topics. Also, please
communicate to the other WGs that should be interested in the work you
are proposing. I will contact them as well. The idea is to get the
necessary exposure to the work so we can figure out the next steps at
the meeting.

Brian, Sheela, Vincent, (any others?) please send a slide or two
providing updates on the WG drafts. I will combine all of them into one
slide set. I will ask you to speak to your slides however :).

We need to make the presentations available 1-2 days before the meeting
so remote participants have access to them during the meeting.

best regards,
Lakshminath

Hi everyone,

I have a clarification question to RFC3830, section 6.1, field=20
length of CS ID map info:

Question 1 is on explanation of CS ID map info in 6.1, it is=20
*16 bits* length.
" * CS ID map info (16 bits): identifies the crypto session(s) for
which the SA should be created. The currently defined map type is
the SRTP-ID (defined in Section 6.1.1)."

And in 6.1.1 the mapping of SRTP SPs it is N*9 bytes (1 byte Policy_no,
4 bytes SSRC, 4 bytes ROC). How to map the N*9 to 2 bytes?=20

Question 2 is variance of CS ID map info. With '~' I understand=20
it is variable length. For example if no mapping to SRTP is=20
used this field is not present, which makes the common header=20
payload 10 bytes long. Is this common understanding?

Thanks for clarification!=20

RSVP,
Regards
Tao
