Although the convergence of communication, caching, control and computing (4C) resources can be leveraged to effectively enable 6G services and applications over vehicle-to-everything (V2X) channels, multiple challenges must be addressed to allow connected vehicles to meet the 6G requirements, to securely and efficiently orchestrate their resources and to develop self-organizing and self-sustaining capabilities. Emerging communication paradigms that make effective data transmission in very high dynamic contexts include the reprogrammability of the environment by the means of Reprogrammable Intelligent Metasurfaces (RIMs). Moreover, Visible Light Communication (VLC) can improve the reliability of V2X interactions and be effective in terms of security and enhanced data rate. With focus on networking aspects, Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) can bring programmability, flexibility and scalability in connected vehicles, simplify network management and promote an efficient and fair use of the distributed 4C resources and programmable metasurfaces. They can be complemented by revolutionary networking models, such as Information Centric Networking (ICN), to provide distributed caching and computing services. This special issue aims to collect proposals that deal with revolutionary communication and networking technologies for connected vehicles, in a holistic fashion or at different layers, to meet the expectations of the 6G era. It was clarified that Continuou= s Verification (CV) is an extension of DevOps practices that are concerned = with verifying the system as a whole.

CV can be used to address the r= isk associated to deployment of non-validated updates introduced by the CI/= CD models.

 

Here is the another issue, Digi= tal Twin Network define four key functional blocks, i.e., analyze, emulate,= diagnosis, control. How CI/CD or continuous verification is related to the= se four functional blocks.

As author, I obviously support the call for adoption for the two related drafts: draft-claise-opsawg-service-assurance-architecture-05 & draft-claise-opsawg-service-assurance-yang-07

I'm a strong believer that, in order to solve Intent-based Networking/Autonomous Driving Networking/Self-* Networks/you-name-it, we must first tackle the service assurance and closed loop automation issues, which can only be solved by dividing the service assurance into the assurance of smaller components, called a subservice in the drafts.

What I want to stress is that those two drafts are the result of:
    - many discussions with operators, which will hopefully show their support here,
    - some university research, with some opensource code (as presented at the last IETF)

This new paradigm = represents the natural evolution of current cloud-native architectures, = and a first glimpse into an actual fluid resource control that breaks = current quantization and reaches ultimate flexibility.
