Folks,

Let's have a Bar BoF in London to discuss the PS and use case, and what's n=

If you are interest, please reply to this email or click in doodle (http://=

Subject: Starting discussion

(Sorry for duplicated mails.)

Hello,

Thanks for joining the Open IPv6 (openv6) mailing list. It's great to see s=
o much interest in the topic!

The following questions are listed to be discussed here:
(1) What are the problems and use cases existing in various IPv6 applicatio=
ns, e.g., multiple IPv6 transition technologies co-exist?
(2) How to enable the applications to program the equipment to tunnel IPv6 =
traffic across an IPv4 data plane?
(3) How this work can be done through a general interface, e.g., to incorpo=
rate the transition policies, simplifying the different stages through the =
transition and guaranteeing that current decisions do not imply a complicat=
ed legacy in the future?
(4) How to make the end-to-end configuration of devices: concentrator/CGN, =
CPE and the provisioning system?
(5) How to extend the existing IETF protocols, e.g., netconf, to support th=
is open interface?

In addition to the above questions, we've laid out an initial description o=
f the problem in https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-sun-openv6-problem-=
statement/ and are looking for productive discussion and feedback on this l=
ist. We are now modifying it and a new version will be released accordingly=
. :)

Shucheng LIU (Will)

Hi All,

=20

Could you please consider to arrange the side meeting on Thursday or =
Friday
?

I have to firstly attend Open Networking Summit 2014 (the same week) to
present paper at research track, then come to IETF89.

=20

Hello,

=20

Thanks for joining the Open IPv6 (openv6) mailing list. It=A1=AFs great =
to see
so much interest in the topic!

=20

The following questions are listed to be discussed here:=20
(1) What are the problems and use cases existing in various IPv6
applications, e.g., multiple IPv6 transition technologies co-exist?=20
(2) How to enable the applications to program the equipment to tunnel =
IPv6
traffic across an IPv4 data plane?=20
(3) How this work can be done through a general interface, e.g., to
incorporate the transition policies, simplifying the different stages
through the transition and guaranteeing that current decisions do not =
imply
a complicated legacy in the future?=20
(4) How to make the end-to-end configuration of devices: =
concentrator/CGN,
CPE and the provisioning system?=20
(5) How to extend the existing IETF protocols, e.g., netconf, to support
this open interface?

=20

In addition to the above questions, we've laid out an initial =
description of
the problem in
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-sun-openv6-problem-statement/ and =
are
looking for productive discussion and feedback on this list. We are now
modifying it and a new version will be released accordingly. :)

Could you please consider to arrange the side meeting on Thursday or =
Friday
?

I have to firstly attend Open Networking Summit 2014 (the same week) to
present paper at research track, then come to IETF89.

=20

Hello,

=20

Thanks for joining the Open IPv6 (openv6) mailing list. It=A1=AFs great =
to see
so much interest in the topic!

=20

The following questions are listed to be discussed here:=20
(1) What are the problems and use cases existing in various IPv6
applications, e.g., multiple IPv6 transition technologies co-exist?=20
(2) How to enable the applications to program the equipment to tunnel =
IPv6
traffic across an IPv4 data plane?=20
(3) How this work can be done through a general interface, e.g., to
incorporate the transition policies, simplifying the different stages
through the transition and guaranteeing that current decisions do not =
imply
a complicated legacy in the future?=20
(4) How to make the end-to-end configuration of devices: =
concentrator/CGN,
CPE and the provisioning system?=20
(5) How to extend the existing IETF protocols, e.g., netconf, to support
this open interface?

=20

In addition to the above questions, we've laid out an initial =
description of
the problem in
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-sun-openv6-problem-statement/ and =
are
looking for productive discussion and feedback on this list. We are now
modifying it and a new version will be released accordingly. :)

> The following questions are listed to be discussed here:
> (1) What are the problems and use cases existing in various IPv6 applications, e.g., multiple IPv6 transition technologies co-exist?
> (2) How to enable the applications to program the equipment to tunnel IPv6 traffic across an IPv4 data plane?
> (3) How this work can be done through a general interface, e.g., to incorporate the transition policies, simplifying the different stages through the transition and guaranteeing that current decisions do not imply a complicated legacy in the future?
> (4) How to make the end-to-end configuration of devices: concentrator/CGN, CPE and the provisioning system?
> (5) How to extend the existing IETF protocols, e.g., netconf, to support this open interface?
>
> In addition to the above questions, we've laid out an initial description of the problem in https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-sun-openv6-problem-statement/ and are looking for productive discussion and feedback on this list. We are now modifying it and a new version will be released accordingly. :)

Hi Openv6 Team,

This draft describes a framework and use cases for unified IPv6 transition.
It focuses on v6 transition cases (e.g. dslite, lw4o6, NAT64 etc),
and it treats CPE as forwarding devices that are controlled by controllers.

We wonder if you have interests on CPE. Hope it can make contribution
to openv6 work.

Thanks!

Best Regards,
Cong Liu

A new version of I-D, draft-cui-intarea-unified-v6-framework-00.txt
has been successfully submitted by Yuchi Chen and posted to the
IETF repository.

Name: draft-cui-intarea-unified-v6-framework
Revision: 00
Title: Unified IPv6 Transition Framework With Flow-based Forwarding
Document date: 2014-02-14
Group: Individual Submission
Pages: 8
URL:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-cui-intarea-unified-v6-framework-00.txt
Status:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-cui-intarea-unified-v6-framework/
Htmlized:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-cui-intarea-unified-v6-framework-00

Abstract:
This document describes a unified IPv6 transition framework. This
framework makes use of the flow-based packet forwarding technology,
which can simplify the implementation of both control plane and data
plane operations of transition mechanisms. The purpose of this work
is to provide an integrated and flexible framework to implement and
deploy the most popular translation and tunneling mechanisms, such as
   NAT64, DS-Lite, Lightweight 4over6 and MAP-E. This framework can
benefit the industry by reducing the cost of implementation,
providing flexibility for deployment, and enabling transition
mechanisms to coexist and cooperate in the common infrastructure.

Please note that it may take a couple of minutes from the time of submission
until the htmlized version and diff are available at tools.ietf.org.

Hi all,

After a lot of email discussions, we finally made a compromised decision to=
fix the time slot of Openv6 Side meeting to 1840-1940 Wednesday to discuss=
the PS and use case, and what's next step for this work. We will provide f=
ood and drinks then since it's dinner time.

Sorry again that this may not be available to some of you. For those who wi=
ll not be available for the whole time slot, welcome to join part of it. Fo=
r those who will not attend London IETF, we will also try to provide an onl=
ine access.

The location is TBD. I will send you before Wednesday. If you have and ques=
tion or comment, please let me know. Thanks.

Regards,
Shucheng LIU (Will)
