Hi,

We did not receive until now any requests for agenda time at the OPSAREA
WG meeting.=20

By now we have only the open microphone session on the agenda.=20

Unless we receive any request in the next few days we may end up the
meeting early or donate time to the OPSAWG if they need it.=20

Thanks and Regards,

Dan and Ron

Dan,

OPSEC is badly in need of agenda time. Maybe we could donate some of our ti=

Many thanks Dan and Ron.
What would be best forum to distribute the drafts discussed?

Hi.
I was requesting 10 min slot for
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-golovinsky-cloud-services-log-format-01
from OPSAWG. They are reluctant to grant it without seeing some active
discussion on the list and also probably because the agenda is packet as it
is.
IMHO people have limited time for reading the drafts and the presentation
can generate active discussion.
The draft itself lost a bit of a momentum due to inability of authors to
attend several previous meetings.

If at all possible, I would really appreciate the opportunity to talk about
the problem at hand and the possible solution.

Thanks.

Hi,

We did not receive until now any requests for agenda time at the OPSAREA WG
meeting.

By now we have only the open microphone session on the agenda.

Unless we receive any request in the next few days we may end up the meeting
early or donate time to the OPSAWG if they need it.

Thanks and Regards,

Dan and Ron

Greetings all,

We have recently submitted a draft in opsawg on transmission interruption
duration (draft-fan-opsawg-transmission-interuption-00
<http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-fan-opsawg-transmission-interuption/>
). We felt it necessary to make requirements for the interruption duration
since there is no consensus on it yet in the industry. We primarily analyzed
interruption criteria for softswitch voice, and research on LTE backhaul and
other kinds of service scenarios has been in progress.

We would like to hear from you feedbacks about this draft, e.g. whether or
not there should be such requirements or methodology for the analysis. Any
comment on it will be appreciated.

The following is a brief introduction:

Today's IP/MPLS network is widely used as a bearing network to carry
diversified packet switched services. The transmission qualities of these
services are closely related to the performance of bearing layers, as
network failure, delay, congestion and other abnormities will inevitably
bring about service interruption and user perception degradation. However,
there is no consensus in the industry on transmission interruption for
IP/MPLS network up to now. This memo studies relationships between service
performance and transmission interruption duration in several scenarios, and
is intended to reach a list of requirements for these interruption duration
criteria.

Best regards,

Fan Peng

Hi Gene,

The OPSAWG chairs agreed to allocate a time-slot in the OPSAWG section
of the meeting for this document. Please follow-up with them on the
details and most important please work with the other OPSAWG
participants in order to test their level of support and interest in
participating in this work, which will be the determinant factor in the
decision to adopt it (or not) as a WG item.=20

Hi Dan,

=20

I submitted a draft several days ago regarding IP/MPLS interruption =
duration
draft-fan-opsawg-transmission-interuption-00
<http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-fan-opsawg-transmission-interuptio=
n/>
. I requested a time slot in opsawg, but was told they tended only to
allocate a slot after the draft had shown interest in the mailing list. =
This
document was submitted shortly before the Mar 5 deadline, so I guess I
didn=A1=AFt leave enough time for people to read it.

=20

Although the industry may have some existing perspectives on the matter =
of
interruption duration =A8C for example sub-50ms-outage-time requirement =
for
physical transport layer =A8C we think the requirement for IP/MPLS layer =
can
be alleviated to some extent as long as upper-level service connection =
is
not affected to be broken. That is the purpose of this document. To be =
more
specific, we consider IP interruption duration of 3 sec is ok for =
softswitch
voice.=20

=20

We would like to hear comments about this problem and initiate =
discussion
among industry on how far the IP layer can tolerate interruption while
provide uninterrupted connection for services. I really wish to have the
chance to talk about this issue during the meeting if the agenda is not =
so
fully scheduled. 10 minutes is enough if it is possible.

=20

Thanks and best regards,

=20

Fan Peng

Hi Gene,

=20

The OPSAWG chairs agreed to allocate a time-slot in the OPSAWG section =
of
the meeting for this document. Please follow-up with them on the details =
and
most important please work with the other OPSAWG participants in order =
to
test their level of support and interest in participating in this work,
which will be the determinant factor in the decision to adopt it (or =
not) as
a WG item.=20

Hi Fan Peng,

=20

Thank you for your message but I do not think that using time in the =
OPSAREA meeting for discussions about an I-D that did not gather enough =
interest and momentum in the OPSAWG (or other WGs in the area) would be =
a good thing. I suggest that you talk again with the OPSAWG chairs and =
ask that your document be included at the end of the agenda of the =
OPSAWG if there is time available. In the meantime I would recommend =
that you use the OPSAWG list to explain the problem that you are trying =
to address with your I-D and the reasons for which you believe that it =
should be addressed by the WG, so that the WG members have an =
opportunity to express support.=20

=20

Thanks and Regards,

=20

Subject: =B4=F0=B8=B4: [OPS-AREA] Call for agenda items for the OPSAREA =
open meeting atIETF-83

=20

Hi Dan,

=20

I submitted a draft several days ago regarding IP/MPLS interruption =
duration draft-fan-opsawg-transmission-interuption-00 =
<http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-fan-opsawg-transmission-interuptio=
n/> . I requested a time slot in opsawg, but was told they tended only =
to allocate a slot after the draft had shown interest in the mailing =
list. This document was submitted shortly before the Mar 5 deadline, so =
I guess I didn=A1=AFt leave enough time for people to read it.

=20

Although the industry may have some existing perspectives on the matter =
of interruption duration =A8C for example sub-50ms-outage-time =
requirement for physical transport layer =A8C we think the requirement =
for IP/MPLS layer can be alleviated to some extent as long as =
upper-level service connection is not affected to be broken. That is the =
purpose of this document. To be more specific, we consider IP =
interruption duration of 3 sec is ok for softswitch voice.=20

=20

We would like to hear comments about this problem and initiate =
discussion among industry on how far the IP layer can tolerate =
interruption while provide uninterrupted connection for services. I =
really wish to have the chance to talk about this issue during the =
meeting if the agenda is not so fully scheduled. 10 minutes is enough if =
it is possible.

=20

Thanks and best regards,

=20

Fan Peng

Hi Gene,

=20

The OPSAWG chairs agreed to allocate a time-slot in the OPSAWG section =
of the meeting for this document. Please follow-up with them on the =
details and most important please work with the other OPSAWG =
participants in order to test their level of support and interest in =
participating in this work, which will be the determinant factor in the =
decision to adopt it (or not) as a WG item.=20

Hello OPSAWG chairs.
I truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss the draft. I believe the work
is important.

Dan suggested that I need to follow up on the details.
Please let me know what I need to do and what details I need to be aware
off.

Many thanks.

Hi Gene,

The OPSAWG chairs agreed to allocate a time-slot in the OPSAWG section of
the meeting for this document. Please follow-up with them on the details and
most important please work with the other OPSAWG participants in order to
test their level of support and interest in participating in this work,
which will be the determinant factor in the decision to adopt it (or not) as
a WG item.

Regards,

Dan

Please pay attention to the SCIM BOF happening this week.=20

http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/83/agenda/agenda-83-scim.txt

http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/scim/current/msg00137.html

There seem to be relevant operational aspects to be taken into
consideration, and input to be provided. It would be good to have folks
from OPS attending. We can also discuss it shortly in the OPS-DIR
meeting tomorrow if there is time.=20

Dear all.
I don't seem to be able to find the topic on the agenda.
Am I just not seeing it or it is not there?

I am looking at Wed 9.00 AM session, right?

Thanks.

Hi Gene,

The OPSAWG chairs agreed to allocate a time-slot in the OPSAWG section of
the meeting for this document. Please follow-up with them on the details and
most important please work with the other OPSAWG participants in order to
test their level of support and interest in participating in this work,
which will be the determinant factor in the decision to adopt it (or not) as
a WG item.

Regards,

Dan

Hi OPSAWG members,=20

=20

After having discuss with Chris, we kindly request your feedbacks on the
draft in object.

This draft is focused on Optical Parameters definition and proposes a
SNMP MIB to manage them.

It has been already submitted and discussed in ccamp, good feedbacks
from the content point of view,=20

Nevertheless ccamp recommended to ask for comments also from SNMP point
of view.

In the document you can find the references to G.698.2 (the ITU-T
optical parameters recommendation)

And the kunze-g-698-2-management-control-framework that explain in some
way the usage of the MIB (and more).

=20

Thanks a lot for the support.

=20

Best Regards,=20

=20

The authors.

Well, its a long MIB. You should really not use a module name already
in use and a module registration you do not own. I also strongly
suggest to do an editorial pass over it to achieve a consistent layout
and indentation. Tools tend to extract strings and they pay attention
to indentation and such things. Is Integer32 always the right data
type? Can you have negative power etc? The copyright says 2003 and the
text says it is part of RFC 3591 and the ATOM WG. I think a serious
editorial pass over the document is needed before this should be
reviewed.
