p of the IETF.

Title : Extensions to the Path Computation Element communication=
Protocol (PCEP) for Inter-Layer MPLS and GMPLS Traffic Engineering
	Author(s) : Eiji Oki
                          Tomonori Takeda
                          Adrian Farrel
                          Fatai Zhang
	Filename : draft-ietf-pce-inter-layer-ext-06.txt
	Pages : 18
	Date : 2012-01-03

The Path Computation Element (PCE) provides path computation
functions in support of traffic engineering in Multiprotocol Label
Switching (MPLS) and Generalized MPLS (GMPLS) networks.

MPLS and GMPLS networks may be constructed from layered service
networks. It is advantageous for overall network efficiency to
provide end-to-end traffic engineering across multiple network layers
through a process called inter-layer traffic engineering. PCE is a
   candidate solution for such requirements.

The PCE communication Protocol (PCEP) is designed as a communication
protocol between Path Computation Clients (PCCs) and PCEs. This
document presents PCEP extensions for inter-layer traffic engineering.

	Pages : 14
	Date : 2012-01-05

The initial effort of PCE WG is specifically focused on MPLS (Multi-
protocol label switching). As a next step, this draft describes
functional requirements for GMPLS (Generalized MPLS) application of
   PCE (Path computation element).

The Path Computation Element (PCE) may be used for computing services
that traverse multi-area and multi-AS Multiprotocol Label Switching
(MPLS) and Generalized MPLS (GMPLS) Traffic Engineered (TE) networks.

This document examines the applicability of the PCE architecture,
protocols, and protocol extensions for computing multi-area and
multi-AS paths in MPLS and GMPLS networks.

Hi All,

Please note we published a new version of our draft. So, what has been
updated for draft-ietf-pce-inter-area-as-applicability-02?

- Completed the document sections. A few "bits" of new text added.
- Reordering of Sections to help with readability.
- Additional text and references to help readers with background PCE
reading.

Although we have some operators contributing it would be good to have more
operator/provider feedback. Specifically:

1. Did we miss an inter-area/inter-as use case, feature or function?

2. Does the document and specific sections make sense? The intention as to
provide an overview of PCE technology and its applicability to inter-as AND
inter-area path computation. Have we been successful?

3. Are we missing any PCE technology, mechanisms, protocol extensions? So
far I think we have touched on the following technologies in the document:

[RFC3209] and [RFC3473] - RSVP-TE Primers
[RFC4655] - PCE Architecture
[RFC4726] - Inter-Domain MPLS-TE
[RFC5088] and [RFC5089] - IGP PCE Discovery
[RFC5152] - Per-Domain
[RFC5440] - PCEP
[RFC5441] - BRPC
[RFC5520] - Path-Key
[RFC6006] - P2MP Path Computations
[RFC6007] - Synchronized / Dependent Path Computations
[G-8080], [G-7715] and [G-7715-2] - ASON Routing Architecture and
Requirements
[PCEP-P2MP-INTER-DOMAIN] - Inter-domain P2MP
[H-PCE] - Hierarchical PCE

Br, Dan.

Dear PCEers,

We've submitted a new version of our stateful PCE draft. This
version incorporates the suggestions made in Taipei and on the mailing list
(many thanks to all of the reviewers.)

http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-crabbe-pce-stateful-pce-02

When we talked about this work in Taipei and discussed WG adoption there
were several small issues raised that we committed to fixing before
requesting WG adoption. This revision resolves all of the points that were
raised. At this point we believe there is sufficient interest from a broad
enough group of vendors and customers to make it worth being developed
further within the WG.

We'd like to request that draft-crabbe-pce-stateful-pce be considered for
adoption as a PCE WG document.

best,

  -ed

A new version of I-D, draft-crabbe-pce-stateful-pce-02.txt has been
successfully submitted by Jan Medved and posted to the IETF repository.

Filename: draft-crabbe-pce-stateful-pce
Revision: 02
Title: PCEP Extensions for Stateful PCE
Creation date: 2012-01-22
WG ID: Individual Submission
Number of pages: 51

Abstract:
The Path Computation Element Communication Protocol (PCEP) provides
mechanisms for Path Computation Elements (PCEs) to perform path
computations in response to Path Computation Clients (PCCs) requests.

Although PCEP explicitly makes no assumptions regarding the
information available to the PCE, it also makes no provisions for
synchronization or PCE control of timing and sequence of path
computations within and across PCEP sessions. This document
describes a set of extensions to PCEP to enable this functionality,
providing stateful control of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)
Traffic Engineering Label Switched Paths (TE LSP) via PCEP.

Abstract:<br>
=A0 The Path Computation Element Communication Protocol (PCEP) provides<br=
