Manav,

Speaking first in the role of WG co-chair, now that our recharter is
complete, please resubmit this document as draft-ietf-bfd-generic-crypto-authen.
(And thanks for sticking with us through the rechartering process.)

Secondly, speaking as an individual contributor, here's a very minor comment
on the draft:

In section 3.5, you mention OSPFv2. I suspect a copy and paste issue. :-)

rking Group of the IETF.

Title : BFD Generic Cryptographic Authentication
	Author(s) : Manav Bhatia
                          Vishwas Manral
                          Dacheng Zhang
	Filename : draft-ietf-bfd-generic-crypto-auth-00.txt
	Pages : 12
	Date : 2011-10-08

This document proposes an extension to Bidirectional Forwarding
Detection (BFD) to allow the use of any cryptographic authentication
algorithm in addition to the already-documented authentication
schemes described in the base specification. This document adds the
basic infrastructure thats required for supporting algorithm and key
   agility for BFD.

Hi,

Dacheng, Vishwas and I have submitted a new draft that addresses the item 2=
c in the updated BFD charter - Specify cryptographic authentication procedu=
res for the BFD protocol using HMAC-SHA-256 (possibly truncated to a smalle=
r integrity check value) using the generic keying-based cryptographic authe=
ntication mechanism.=20

Would be great if the WG can review this document and provide their feedbac=
k.

The draft is available here:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-bhatia-bfd-hmac-sha-00.txt=20

Cheers, Manav

Subject: New Version Notification for draft-bhatia-bfd-hmac-sha-00.txt

A new version of I-D, draft-bhatia-bfd-hmac-sha-00.txt has been successfull=
y submitted by Manav Bhatia and posted to the IETF repository.

Revision: 00
Title: Authenticating BFD using HMAC-SHA-2 procedures
Creation date: 2011-10-09
WG ID: Individual Submission
Number of pages: 10

Abstract:
This document describes how Hashed Message Authentication Mode (HMAC)
in conjunction with the SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512 algorithms can
be used for authenticating Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD).
It uses the Generic Cryptographic Authentication and Generic
Meticulous Cryptographic Authentication sections to carry the
authentication data. This updates, but does not supercede, the
cryptographic authentication mechanism specified in RFC 5880.

Per our last charter discussion, the BFD multipoint draft was accepted as a
WG item. The authors would appreciate feedback on their draft.
