A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Session Initiation Protocol Core Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Location Conveyance for the Session Initiation Protocol
	Author(s) : J. Polk, et al.
	Filename : draft-ietf-sipcore-location-conveyance-07.txt
	Pages : 30
	Date : 2011-05-04

This document defines an extension to the Session Initiation
Protocol (SIP) to convey geographic location information from one
SIP entity to another SIP entity. The SIP extension covers
end-to-end conveyance as well as location-based routing, where SIP
intermediaries make routing decisions based upon the location of the
Location Target.

I noticed the following:

Modified text in section 4.2:
"If no Geolocation-Routing header field is present in a SIP request,=20
a SIP intermediary MAY insert this header. Without knowledge from a=20
Rulemaker, the SIP intermediary inserting this header-value SHOULD=20
NOT set the value to "yes", as this could allow the Target's=20
location to be forwarded to third parties without the Target's=20
explicit permission. An easy way around this is to have the Target=20
always insert this header-value as "no"."
Even if the value is set to "no", the target's location could end up being =
forwarded to third parties without the target's explicit permission. Normal=
SIP routing (without taking location into account) can result in a request=
being forwarded to another destination. So the words:
"as this could allow the Target's=20
location to be forwarded to third parties without the Target's=20
   explicit permission"
should be deleted, as this can arise anyway and is not impacted by the valu=
e of the Geolocation-Routing header field.

A new Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Session Initiation Protocol Core Working Group of the IETF.

Title : An Extension to the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for Request History Information
    Author(s) : M. Barnes, et al
    Filename : draft-ietf-sipcore-rfc4244bis-05.txt
    Pages : 49
    Date : 2011-04-27

This document defines a standard mechanism for capturing the history
information associated with a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
request. This capability enables many enhanced services by providing
the information as to how and why a SIP request arrives at a specific
application or user. This document defines an optional SIP header
field, History-Info, for capturing the history information in
requests. The document also defines SIP header field parameters for
the History-Info and Contact header fields to tag the method by which
the target of a request is determined. In addition, this document
defines a value for the Privacy header field specific to the History-
Info header field. This document obsoletes RFC 4244.

This specification defines a new Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
response code, 199 Early Dialog Terminated, that a SIP forking proxy
and a User Agent Server (UAS) can use to indicate to upstream SIP
entities (including the User Agent Client (UAC)) that an early dialog
has been terminated, before a final response is sent towards the SIP
entities. [STANDARDS-TRACK]

This document is a product of the Session Initiation Protocol Core Working Group of the IETF.

This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.

A new Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts =
directories.
This draft is a work item of the Session Initiation Protocol Core =
Working Group of the IETF.

Title : An Extension to the Session Initiation Protocol =
(SIP) for Request History Information
    Author(s) : M. Barnes, et al
    Filename : draft-ietf-sipcore-rfc4244bis-05.txt
    Pages : 49
    Date : 2011-04-27
   =20
This document defines a standard mechanism for capturing the history
information associated with a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
request. This capability enables many enhanced services by providing
the information as to how and why a SIP request arrives at a specific
application or user. This document defines an optional SIP header
field, History-Info, for capturing the history information in
requests. The document also defines SIP header field parameters for
the History-Info and Contact header fields to tag the method by which
the target of a request is determined. In addition, this document
defines a value for the Privacy header field specific to the History-
Info header field. This document obsoletes RFC 4244.

implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Session Initiation Protocol Core Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Location Conveyance for the Session Initiation Protocol
	Author(s) : J. Polk, et al.
	Filename : draft-ietf-sipcore-location-conveyance-08.txt
	Pages : 30
	Date : 2011-05-18

This document defines an extension to the Session Initiation
Protocol (SIP) to convey geographic location information from one
SIP entity to another SIP entity. The SIP extension covers
end-to-end conveyance as well as location-based routing, where SIP
intermediaries make routing decisions based upon the location of the
Location Target.

This addresses my concern with the previous version.

I just noticed a nit (which need not prevent this version being shipped - i=
t can be fixed later):

In 4.6:
"The "geolocation-http" option tag signals support for acquiring=20
location information via an HTTP ([RFC2616])."=20
Presumably this should say either "via HTTP" or "via an HTTP request".

An identical case occurs in 8.3.

oops

either will work. Do you have a preference?

not surprised by this

[as document shepherd]

Thanks for your attention to detail, John.

I am making the formal request for publication of this document shortly.
I would request that the document authors address this typo at the same
time as they address IETF last call comments or AD feedback. If the
document requires no other changes during IETF and IESG evaluation,
we'll pick the change up during AUTH48.

/a

The IESG has received a request from the Session Initiation Protocol Core
WG (sipcore) to consider the following document:
- 'Location Conveyance for the Session Initiation Protocol'
  <draft-ietf-sipcore-location-conveyance-08.txt> as a Proposed Standard

The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits
final comments on this action. Please send substantive comments to the
ietf@ietf.org mailing lists by 2011-06-06. Exceptionally, comments may be
sent to iesg@ietf.org instead. In either case, please retain the
beginning of the Subject line to allow automated sorting.

Abstract

This document defines an extension to the Session Initiation
Protocol (SIP) to convey geographic location information from one
SIP entity to another SIP entity. The SIP extension covers
end-to-end conveyance as well as location-based routing, where SIP
intermediaries make routing decisions based upon the location of the
Location Target.

The file can be obtained via
http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-sipcore-location-conveyance/

IESG discussion can be tracked via

No IPR declarations have been submitted directly on this I-D.
